Hey guys,
I just logged on and saw that the Veteran pack is going to be retiring soon, and as I'm going to be VERY busy in the next few days, I am essentially tying to decide if I should spend my whole PSN wallet to buy it TODAY.
I mostly want the BPOs, as those are so effective and cheap. I particularly want the LAV BPO since CCP stole my normal one.
But the crux of my question is this: Do you think I should I buy the Veteran pack? Is it worth the investment on the hopes that this game picks up, or would I be spending too much on a dying game?
P.S. and is there anywhere that I can see a picture of that Convenient assault suit BPO?
Thanks! |

If you already have the funds in your wallet and plan on playing Dust for at least a few more months, than definitely. Not only do you get a BPO LAV which is invaluable, you also get a 1 month active booster, 1 month passive booster, and 100,000 AUR which can buy a bunch more boosters. You'd be set for a very long time.

I'd get it for the LAV they come in handy and save a lot of ISK in the long run. Get it or regret it.

Depends, do you use Caldari stuff? if not, no.
although, the boosters along with the AUR might make it worth it.
I may have deleted DUST but I still care deeply about this game.

its only worth it if you plan on playing for the next few months. 50$ is almost the price of a new game. A new game can last 1 week - 3 months or more worth of fun if you really really enjoy it. A game work a weeks worth of fun is something i would buy from the used game section at gamestop during their buy 2 get 1 free sales.

Buy the 100$ pack, it is more than worth it. I bought mine when they first came out and the Drens suits are worth more than there weight in gold. You get boosters and you also get enough Aurum to buy even more.
I am a bit suspicious as to why they are ending the BPO's, I think it was the new CEO's doings.

So many things wrong with your last sentence.
1. They already explained why they are doing it.
2. CCP still has the same CEO they had for years now.

They already said why they're removing BPOs, just look at EVE's BPO system and you'll know what they wanted it to be fromt he start but the game wasnt ready for that kind of system. They're just trying to stop the bleeding at the moment by covering the wound before it gets bigger.
As for whether or not the BPOs are worth it, nobody knows what the plans are for BPOs or when the changes, if there is gonna be one, will be made. For now, BPOs are far more valuable than BPCs and the merc packs are the only ones that give you a ton of extras on top of the AUR. Buying straight AUR is a huge mistake. |

If you just want a BPO LAV you can use the bundle voucher for a Guristas Saga(no skills required but you need to fit a weapon to it - costs about 9k right now). |

It's worth it simply for the aurum ($50) plus boosters ($20). The BPOs are just extra. I bought a second Vet. pack for the aurum and boosters. |

Really depends on what they do with BPOs, but we will be guessing til the market comes. I bought both the vet pack back in july, then the elite pack (after I sold my soul to the wife) about a month ago.
I love my blood red suit but if I had to do it again I would have bought the elite pack first. You get so much more for your money, but it is more of a commitment.
But really ponder how much longer do you see youself playing the game. Good luck with your choice. |

Depends on how dedicated you think you are going to be to the game. Honestly, I think the $100 Elite Pack is a better value if you are looking at the BPO's. One of each class, better variety of weapon BPO's and the LAV too.
Honestly it is worth it just for the AURUM and Boosters but all those BPO's are the cream on top.
Veteran is cool, especially if you can make use of its ONLY BPO weapon...a Sniper Rifle. If not, then Elite is a better long term investment. And you will never see anything like it again. |

This is essentially my problem, as how much I play depends on what they do with it. I used to play all the time back in Chromosome, but ever since we reached the release build I just haven't been playing as much. I think this is largely because I fell in love with the HMG, and had a blast becoming the best shield Heavy I could be before its untimely demise. But besides, that, the flurry of unpredictable nerfs just left me scratching my head and not knowing what to invest in, which in turn ruined the RPG element of the game.
So essentially my question comes down to whether this game will meet or exceed the fun-level of the Chromosome build someday. If CCP sticks with it and fixes this game, then the $50 will be worth it. If they try and fail or just stop trying all together and pull the plug in a few weeks/months, then this will be $50 down the tubes.
So, which direction do you guys think is more likely? (and BTW, what do the LAVs from the two packs look like?) |

Original poster here...
Yeah, I'm starting to think that the Veteran pack is the way to go. I've already collected several BPOs from back in the beta (including the sever, valor, and raven suits that I now can't use without putting in a ton of SP) so the main thing I'm wanting is the LAV. I looked at the Elite pack, but I already have BPOs of all the suit types and the additional weapons (skin-weaves and old militias from way back when) aside from the swarm launcher, and that doesn't seem worth the extra $50 for essentially one weapon.
Anyone have anything to add to my chain of thought before I make the final decision? |

If you want the LAV, the cheapest option is the ebay Dust 514 code for the guristas LAV (only works in North America btw), but it doesnt come pre-fit so you'll have to slap on at least a MLT turret which costs about 9k, I do believe the $50 and $100 pack have pre-fit LAVs so they dont cost anything to use at all. You do get some nice goodies with the vet pack though. |

I would say no because the only two things worth real money are boosters and BPOs and CCP is bound to eventually nerf BPOs so they function completely differently than they do now.
