IT'S THE AMARR VARIANT.
Come on you guys, are you that stupid? Look at the Amarr medium frame:
-Slowest medium frame -Highest base ehp with even shields/armor -Lowest slot count -Logi has a sidearm
Now look at the Amarr heavy frame:
-Very slow -Very high base ehp (getting a buff in 1.6) -Very low slot count -Commando has two light weapons (according to the pattern it should really be a Heavy and a Light...the other racial commandos should just have two light weapons)
This means that all other heavy variants will be faster with higher slot counts...but lower ehp. Stop asking for more slots on the AMARR heavy suits, stop complaining about the AMARR heavy not working as an agressive, fast-regen suit like the old Type-II (remember? the faster one with more shields and high slots that felt like a caldari suit?)
Instead, push for the new racial heavies! Do you want more slots? Is the Amarr heavy too slow? would you rather have a very large armor/shield base? These missing variants are why versatality is lacking when it comes to the heavy frames, and why the commando seems to suck so bad.
I mean, if you want a fast suit with lots of shields and high regen, you don't go pick the amarr logi, you pick the caldari assault or the minmatar scout. If you want a suit with a ton of slots for more versatality you don't pick the amarr assault, you choose the caldari/minmatar/gallene logistics.
TLDR:
The Amarr suits in this game are slower and have less slots, but have more base ehp. Don't like this? The other racial variants will suit your needs when they get here, so stop trying to get the Amarr ones changed. Patience is key.

At best, the racial Commandos will have 2, but most likely only 1 extra module slot. The shield regen of the Commando is half that of a suit with nearly twice the shield hp. The prices will be equal. I.e. extortionate. The racial bonus is insulting. Regardless of the stats of the others, it will always be next to useless for the Amarr.
Applying the standard racial differences will still result in UP Commandos of all types. They'll be the tiniest bit faster, with less health anyway. If the Caldari scales accordingly, its shields will be worthless, and the Gallente won't have enough lows to acheive any kind of meaningful armour regen. The Minmatar will have barely more health than an Amarr medium frame, but a bigger hitbox.
All this aside - pointing out that only one version of a suit type is UP is still pointing out that a suit is UP. It still needs fixing.

The amarr suit typically have 1 less slot then other suits but more CPU/pg you can see this on all assaults and proto amarr logi. They also get the most over hitpoints with shield and armor equally important. So for the new heavyset expect 1 more slot with With a slight decrease in CPU/pg. the slot will be tailored to the race they belong to. Here is what I would expect for slots
Amarr 2 high slots 3 low slots ( this is what the basic has as is more in line with amarr)
Gallente 1 high slot 5 low slots
Caldari 4 high slots 2 low slots( i don't. Think 5h/1l would be a great fit for heavys even caldari will care about armor for buffer on one)
Minmatar 3 high slots 3 low slots ( assault suit tend to give slightly better CPU/pg then cal. And gallente so that may make the transition to heavy)

Switch the Caldari and Minmatar's slot layout. Caldari focus on higher base shields with less high powered slots while Minmatar do the opposite. Actually, I wouldn't be surpirsed if the Minmatary has something like a 4/1 slot layout but only 300 base shields and a high base recharge rate.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

Then what is the point of having an Amarr version of the commando suit if it is useless? They die as fast as an unmodified medium frame, yet cost A TON more.
I think we should fix stuff instead of JUST making variants. Or else we will get loaded with useless variations that people don't use.

I tried for a VERY LONG TIME FOR A NEW SUIT. Until Heavy's get a heavy suit that can use "H" slot guns let us cry about it. Do you play as a heavy? DO you feel the struggle we have? How many slots do you have? How many "good combinations do you have? All heavy's can do is fill highs slots with Damage mods and lows with Red battery so we can move faster.
You cant do a shield based heavy due to only 2 lows so how do you know if you want to be a shield heavy? If you havent tried the class don't QQ about what they are QQ'ing about. Be respectful and if you dont know were WE are coming from you have (to me) no rights to question why.
Play a heavy for 3 months and then you will be on the same page as us. |

TL;dr butGǪ
In EVE the Amarr are slow, heavily armored and highly efficient on laser energy conservation. Any variation on that in this game is BS and the devs need to be fired.
That being said, I can understand the layout for the Amarr suits and the bonuses for shield. The Amarr are supposed to be actual armor. I.e. Base HP armor. From there they can vary their fits. They can't vary the armor though. All they can do is fit a repper. So, it makes sense to focus on high slots and shield for variation. High slots can be used for other stuff like damage mods. Low slots would allow for greater variation on armor which is not the idea of Amarr. They are raw, physical armor, not effective armor or creative combinations of armor vs other mods.
Gallente by contrast are about adaptation for close range combat so they'd get some freedom in armor layouts vs high slot mods. |

I just get annoyed every time soemone says the commando needs more slots. Or the the heavy suit dies too quickly (because it's slow and much easier to hit)
And then these players try and state suggestions for fixes that will happen with the introduction of the new racial suits.

Well, It might just be me, but I find it kinda silly that the skill gives a bonus to armor/shield modules per level, yet.... there aren't any at basic level.
Unless you are buying AUR suits, there is no benefit to having Amarr commando to level 2, over level 1. None.
The commando suit is commonly regarded as a joke. This is partially because the standard suit is so terrible that noone bothers to try the higher level ones. |

as much as i think the commando could do with the extra slot(s) on the basic level it doesn't make it terrible. the new buff is going to help it loads and sure it takes alot of skill points to run effectivly but it pays off if you do it right. Its basically the Typhoon of DUST514. In EVE the Typhoon was the most underrated drainpipe of doom ever. in its early incantation it was a shield tanking, missile spewing, drone spawning, armor tanking, autocannon pipe of confusion and weird fittings. now its been 'streamlined' thanks to tiercide its dull, boring and predictable. With enough skillpoints you could adapt a Typhoon to do anything, if a pilot came up against one in lowsec it would be laughed at until it spewed torps and web/painter drones at you while nossing you to death. next time you come up against it it'd be pounding you with all guns/missiles/drones blazing. Thats how the commando suit should be. something that can be swapped and changed around, shield tanked or armor tanked so when one runs around a corner you don't know what the hell its gonna hit you with... but something that takes a lot of skill to fit. I'm waiting for the racial heavies to come in purely because i love the look of the minmatar and gallente suits but i run a commando at lv4 on my heavy alt and even though i only have dual geks its still great |

I would consider spending the SP on a Gal Heavy, only if it had the CPU&PG run HMG and still fill the slots with mostly complex plates, and one complex damage mod.
Other racial commando suits would also be nice, though with such a low slot count it seems the only benefit will be the racial modifiers.

Right and just when will there be more varients to the heavy class? Nobody knows yet. Could be 3 months could be a year could be 10 years for all we know. That is one of the biggest problems in the game. It is very much incomplete. |
