Also why can't we have Gallente Tanks with Large Plasma Cannons.
Would that not be the most awesome thing?

No. It would require an infinite amount of energy to get mass up to the speed of light. Exceeding it is not really feasible.

But still, even a tiny amount of the stuff would turn the battlefield into a crater. It would probably be the stupidest thing to shoot at somebody whilst in an atmosphere. I'm surprised Concord even allows it to exist in a weaponized state.

A nuclear weapon converts only a tiny fraction of the matter into energy, while anti-matter converts 100% of matter to energy. I think people seriously underestimate how destructive it is. You can destroy a city with less than a gram. The only way an antimatter weapon could be balanced is if its used in extremely minuscule microscopic amounts.
Anti-matter is NOT to be kittened with.

If the explosion were to create a locally distorted space hat was in itself traveling against another space the object inside said space could exceed the speed of light relative to the external space but not so relative to the INternal space.

Adapted from Deep Core Mining Inc.'s proprietary technology, the DCMA S-1 subverts conventional expectations of what a man-portable anti-material weapons platform is capable of. Despite its excessive weight and extended recharge time, the GÇ£Forge GunGÇ¥ as it has become known, is regarded as the most devastating infantry weapon on the battlefield, and an invaluable tool for those capable of wielding it. Powered by a Gemini microcapacitor, the forge gun utilizes a stored electric charge to fire kinetic slugs at speeds in excess of 7,000 m/s, enough to penetrate even augmented armor systems. During the pre-fire charge, the forward armature locks into position, stabilizing the magnetic field and helping to shield the user from backscatter and the excessive heat produced. Power generation remains the single largest drawback of the current design, the onboard capacitor requiring a significant amount of time to reach full power after each discharge.
The forge gun is a heavy weapon which primarally is used for anti-vehicle purposes. Although lacking in ROF, the sheer amount of damage per shot and the range of the weapon makes it a favorable choice for anti-vehicle units. Furthermore, its hybrid damage ensures its efficiency is even across all vehicles. A force to be reckoned with, the forge gun is a behemoth weapon made as a reply to vehicles of all sorts.

Soulja Ghostface wrote:Soulja facepalms himself and tells the mongering immortals that forge guns are the antiMATTERial weapon right now Its anti-material, not "matterial".
Anti-matter is a different kind of matter that has opposite charge than regular matter; when it collides with regular matter, annihilation happens (100% of mass gets converted to energy, a nuclear weapon by contrast only converts a small fraction). Less than a gram of antimatter can destroy a city.
Anti-material is a term that refers to weapon designed to take out equipment (like vehicles). Completely different from the concept of anti-matter.
If you're going to facepalm, at least know what you're talking about.

It's ultraviolet light.

The ones sunblock protects against.
And yes. Antimatter is tremendously destructive. Also, while produced in relatively large quantities in New Eden, especially by the Gallente for their weapons, it is very difficult to weaponize, and even space-based weaponry that uses antimatter munitions uses very small amounts of the stuff. It is also far less destructive in space, where there is less matter for it to react with and where shock-waves are very limited in propagation, than it would be in atmosphere. Really, using antimatter in atmosphere is a terrible terrible idea for everyone involved. |
