So while outside of battle with some free time to spare I decided to do some marketplace window shopping. An while looking at dropsuit prices I stumbled upon the fact that outside of medium suits, prices fluctuate way more than what certain suits warrant at the Prototype level. So lets look at the prices of Medium, Light, an finally Heavy.
[PROTOTYPE PRICES]
-All Prices Taken From Current Marketplace-
[Medium Suit "BASIC"]
-62,960 ISK --Only 5.27 ISK less than its Assault or Logi counterpart making it economical to run.
[Medium Suit 'ASSAULT"]
-57,690 ISK
[Medium Suit 'LOGISTICS"]
-57,690 ISK
[Light Suit "SCOUT"]
-57,690 ISK
[Light Suit "BASIC"]
-70,360 ISK -- Considering the low life expectancy of these suits even experienced players shy way from the proto level.
[Light Suit "PILOT"]
-??? -- Following the trend of the Heavy it may cost well over 80-90,000 ISK (Is that worth it on such a paper thin suit?)
[Heavy Suit "SENTINEL"]
-57,690 ISK -- At Proto with specialization all suits strangely cost the same however this brings me to my next point.
[Heavy Suit "BASIC"]
-85,160 ISK -- Why the sudden spike in cost. It costs more than a Prototype LAV!!!
[Heavy Suit "COMMANDO"]
-94,425 ISK -- Again why such a large jump, when looking at the Assault and Logistic role they cost the same thing. Why then does the equivalent in the Heavy role that has less tank an more drawbacks cost so much more. Coupled with weapons, accessories, etc. this suit will cost as much or more than a basic Drop Ship!!!
It just seems to me that outside of the medium frames you will get priced out of using a different fit flexibly.
At this point I'd like to know what the community thinks about the prices an such.

Ignore them for now. Once the secondary market comes in and npc items become mostly phased out, those prices will fluctuate according to the laws of supply and demand. That said, I suggest you efficiently stock up. It will be maybe another 3-6 months or so before we see a full market, but until then I would stock up.
CCP, please fix the Nova Knives. Thank you.

Yes I fully agree that a secondary market will solve most or all of the expense problems currently. I for one will stock up on supplies, can't wait to play Monopoly 514, dibs on the top hat.

The prices for the non-specialised frames and commandos is absurd.
The only justification for basic frame prices would be if they had some sort of rudimentary slot customisation. E.g. trading a sidearm for an equipment slot, or lows for highs etc. |

I have a feeling when they remove BPOs ADV prices may be tweeked since most veterans now run them or cheaper an forgo the expensive Proto suits. Which CCP thinks is bad for the economy of Dust in the long run.

Assuming that mercenaries get to actually deal in dropsuit production. Considering we're dealing with BPCs issued by the originating companies and I don't see mercs getting into the blueprint copying business I'm not sure what part we'll have to play. I'm guessing it'll be to sell off loot or unwanted old copies and that won't come close to meeting demand.
The market is the easy part. The industrial aspect is going to be a pain. |

Hopefully the industrial aspect coming will not solely be for EVE.
