So 6m buff...? That's it?
Thanks so much CCP
Passive scanning is a tiny step in the right direction... But so tiny it's negligible. Why? Because the active scanner. The active scanner is OP and has close to no drawback. What's the point of getting passive boost when the team would rather send in a logi with a proto active scanner instead?

Have you done the math on how much 16m translates into compared to 10m? It's significant to me. A Gallente Scout GK.0 with 3x Profile Damps and 1x Range Amp will do a great job in seeing others while still evading most scanners. As I said to someone else earlier, the active scanner may have the range advantage, but it gives your target an alert that you are nearby. A good scout wouldn't alert his target.
CCP, please fix the Nova Knives. Thank you.

Wish I had proto scout. I want to make a stealth bomber using a proto gal scout fitted with 3x cmp range amp + 1x std prof damp + RE. |

this isn't even adding extenders I think with Max passive scan skills you get another 8 meters bringing it up to 32.
That plus a range extender and a precision scan mod and you have got a good combo. |

Honestly it doesn't matter. I wish they balanced the buff with PC in mind. Because let men tell you.
This won't change a thing in how useless scouts are in PC. Why? Because the activ scanner is better in every way.

Indeed. We all know the scanner needs a nerf though...lighting up the whole city continuously kinda makes internal scanners worthless...because you just spin when you scan and the scans last a rediculously long time? When they nerf the scanner, then this will be a buff. |

16 m when combined with full Gallente Scout suit bonus and full Scan Radius skill puts the range out past what we had in Chromosome. I ran Shotgun Scout in Chromosome. 30+ m is plenty. Put a damp on it so you are invisible to Active Scanners and all your fights should start (and hopefully finish) with your enemy looking the other way.
For Minmatar Scout this is not as great a buff, but with Scan Radius skill leveled it should at least help you look around corners. Besides, this was clearly a Gallente Scout buff. The Minmatar Scout buff when it comes should involve speed.

Why would a proto scout ever use more than just 1 std dampener? Skill up to lvl damps and 1 mod will hide you from all scanners bar the meta 9.
I've already recently run rampant in a PC game where the enemy couldn't find me despite constant scanning and with this extra passive scan range I'll be able to go with a range amp for 54m passive scan, whilst running around unscannable with a complex hack mod and complex repper to keep me healthy.
The range buff may be small but it's a very decent start. If we get left at that, then that'll be bad but I get the impression this isn't the end of CCP's scout hugs. We could definitely still do with a wee speed buff and more CPU, especially at ADV.

Gallente Scout with max skills and 1 complex range mod Now: 10 * 1.5 * 1.5 * 1.45 = 32.625 m In 1.6: 16 * 1.5 * 1.5 * 1.45 = 52.2 m
Other scouts with max skills and 1 complex range mod Now: 10 * 1.5 * 1.45 = 21.75 m In 1.6: 16 * 1.5 * 1.45 = 34.8 m

Highlighted why.
In more high level play you're fit would be useless. Because no one would go out of the way to try and find you. And there will always be at least 1 person looking at the panel at all times.

Fair nuff but we've got more games lined up soon against some other tough opponents, so I'll report my success/failures in the scout thread and who the opponents were.
If there is anyone watching the objectives, my passive will pick them up and I'll sneak kill them before heading in for a quick few second hack and then out again. Should be solid tactics in built up areas where I can break line of sight quick enough to escape but we'll see in future if this works...
