I remember everybdody ***** - ing even harder then, than now. I don't understand why people say that was the "Golden Age" If anything, I remember HAV' s being a lot easier to destroy back then. I still remember a single flux grenade and one volley from swarms destroying just about everything
So what made Chromosome so good for tankers?

Less proto AV is about all I can think of
The clear argument here is that once people started getting something that could reliably counter them their true ability or lack thereof started to shine through, after all what sort of player do you think is the type that gravitates towards something practically immune to most weapons |

I remember watching tanks sit in the open with 5 or 6 people throwing everything they had. Whenever the tanker's trigger finger got tired, he'd move away to catch his breath. |

It was too long ago, was the E3 build the chromosome build? If so, then we have very different memories of that time. Those were the days where tankers became famous and I still fear their names when I see them. Although, now the tanks pop a lot easier. |

From what I hear the Golden Age of tanks was sometime back in closed beta. In Chromosome there was a little bit of balance; only shitfit militia tanks were easy to destroy for the average player. Swarms weren't much of a problem to them either back then because most people ran shield tanks (IIRC they were faster back then) and there weren't as many people with forges as there are with swarms now. Not as much proto AV back then either.
Even though tanks will have slightly less base HP I think they'll be harder to kill than they currently are for the average player. Even the stupid tankers might stand a chance. How ever I can guarantee that even though they've received a 34% damage reduction and have to be within range for the tank to kill them to even just get a lock; there will still be tankers whining on the forums about getting solo'd by militia swarms
Not relevant but on the infantry side of the coin, there won't be as many people whining about the AR in the next build. Instead it'll all be about the RR, just watch and see. |

I LOVED chromosome. I never had invisible swarms/FG and I think it was best for AV and Tankers. AV wasn't ridiculous unless you were maybe parked in a spawn and they all came spawning in with AV. Sure, there were times AV could wipe a tank out but it usually meant they had to be smart, use teamwork, and lay a trap or just ambush a tank not paying attention. It meant the best way to counter a tank was a tank, but AV could not only deny vehicles access to certain parts of the map but also with a little effort, destroy them. |

I bet there will be less tankers complaining about swarms as swarmers complaining about how they can't easymode anymore. |

They called the 2/2012 build Uprising, too?
Well then, never fear tankers. You'll get Chromosome back some time around April 2014. |

The clear argument here is that once people started getting something that could reliably counter them their true ability or lack thereof started to shine through, after all what sort of player do you think is the type that gravitates towards something practically immune to most weapons I'd have to say this. Chromosome lasted 4 months. So the max SP anyone could of had is roughly (168,000 + 190,400) * 1.5 *16 + 500,000 = 9,101,600
Now I know you could argue there were less skill point sinks, but when the most you could possibly have is just over 9 million SP then most people were probably still working on maxing out their first role. The odds of bumping into proto AV wasn't that high, especially around the beginning/middle of Chromosome. You go into a pub match now, you're guaranteed to find at least one guy with Wiyrkomi swarms and very likely someone with the IAF. |

I think thats part of the problem is that right now getting SP is really easy especially with boosters that you can basically get everything now way to quick and the lack of new gear is so not helping because by the time they add new gear the top SP players will have enough SP saved to max those out and still have left over SP |

Sorry, I disagree there. You definitely don't get SP way too quick. This games skill progression goes at a glacial pace compared to EVE, and it's much slower to unlock gear than other shooters I've played.
Us old-timers do stock up SP, yes, but when something new comes out it's always Buyer Beware. |

Possibly but I think a lot of swarm users will move over to forge guns. As far as we know they're not getting nerfed when the swarms do so they'll have more range, do more damage, and it's incredibly easy to hit a tank with a forge gun. The only advantage with swarms is the fire & forget; with the forge in most cases the shot has hit before you have a chance to forget. |

Thats my plan, even if it means putting my other skill progression plans on hold to fit a fat suit and a half decent forge
Im not drunk, the planet just happens to be especially wobbly today.
