it means you don't have to worry about the reload till after the fight, so the only break in your dps is the weapon switch, which is negligible. what this means is that if you and an opponent start shooting at the same time, while he has to go through the relatively lengthy reload process you can switch weapons and continue to shoot him, do it well and it gives you a decisive advantage, do it badly and your just wasting weapons. its also good for surprising people, if they rush you because they think your reloading you can surprise them with a clip to the face.

this makes sense to me if the weapon in question doesn't have an extremely fast reload already, plasma cannon for example. but the smg reloads before my finger is off the button.
