quite honestly if the QQers who cried about proto stomping 3 or 4 months ago were still playing they would be in proto gear as well, but a lot of the people who have played or do play this game lack the patients to grind it out the way the vets have.

Its just continuing the vicious cycle . Its not going to fix the problem ...It just mean I'm not being stomped.
I think your missing the big picture here.
Why am I going to waste time on a game to be the guy stomping instead of being stomped , When I was just complaining about it . Where's the fun? .... What's the point?
To me it's not fun to be so powerful compared to your opponent they dont even pose a threat .
You might as well go play a singleplayer game , throw some cheats on and comp stomp ....What the diff?
I want a challenge , most do . This game is just level to the point you get to be the stomper ....
I can see it now the new advertising campaign:
Dust 514 : One war one universe ..... Level up and you too can stomp the few noobs that trickle through!
Those vets didn't have to grind while playing against hoards of protostompers...
I promise that if any of those vets were to start new today, they would quit too.
Since it takes about 3 months of religious play in DUST 514 to be equal in terms of gear and actual in-game experience, nobody is going to stick around for that if they only get 200 WP/game because they are getting slaughtered by scrubs who pick on noobs. All the while, those protostompers are only getting even higher on the mountain, to the point were they don't even need to spend their SP, because they've hit the limit for whatever their role is.
Now that HAVs are becoming more frequent (because the playerbase is finishing off there infantry characters and is moving into HAVs with there SP) the problem will only get worse. DUST is a game for a very niche audience. The religious gamer who plays a game to an obsession. You have to devote so much to DUST in order to be on top of the mountain, and because of the small playerbase, everyone can see the summit, so everyone exploits everything this game has offer to reach it.
The narrower the playerbase gets, the less the game will survive. DUST is already losing money hand-over-fist... making a game that only benefits less than .1% of the gamer population is a futile effort. At this rate, DUST will be scrapped, unless they figure out a whole new system to bring in more money.
Even if all DUST players spent $50/mo in AURUM, DUST would still be losing money. Broken mechanics is one thing, but to add the scrub player base on top of it? Its no wonder they won't even make the game for PS4... they can't afford to (You have to pay Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft, etc for your game to be made for their console).
