I imagine we are all familiar with the fan fest concept art, but just in case I'll link it below http://i.imgur.com/sUmwLWh.jpg
You should notice a disturbing lack of battle skirt on the Amarr light frame suit. There was an initial uproar regarding this, and we all sort of hoped CCP would go back and add in the battle skirt so it can be a true Amarr suit. But recently, CPM Nova Knife wrote the following in a Skype conversation,
Nova Knife wrote:no skirt CPM ART SPOILERS
After all, just read the description of Amarr suits coming directly from the game:
Dust 514 wrote:Aesthetics are a vital aspect of the suit's design, because to the Amarr, aesthetics are function. Enshrined with the armor, the wearer becomes a vessel, the embodiment of God's will and an instrument of holy wrath, unmistakable, and feared, by all who look upon him. To the Amarr, the dropsuit itself is the weapon.
Now how in New Eden is the Amarr scout supposed to scout and inspire fear without the battle skirt like its medium and heavy brothers? |

That depends on the gold content of them. I mean typically they are insanely heavy, Perhaps our scouts could just make use of thin malleable Gold thread, much lighter, more flexible and easier to run in. |

LOL because the lore descriptions of the suits actually means something!
Quote:The Heavy dropsuit is a second-generation solution designed to withstand concentrated small arms fire and protect the wearer from the concussive, thermal, and impact forces of low-grade explosives. Additionally, its power-assisted exoskeleton facilitates the usage of the heaviest caliber personal weapons.
Every vital area of the wearer is protected by 25mm of composite ceramic shell or high tensile steel plates, layered with impact absorbing, compressed carbon latticework. A secondary thermal dispersion membrane channels excess heat away from the point of contact, distributing it over a larger surface area and thereby lessening the potential damage. Superconductive veins of hybrid silver coat the outer layers and connect every piece of the armor to a grounding heat sink, dampening the harmful effects of direct fire electromagnetic weaponry.
Heavy dropsuits lack the mobility of lighter suits, but this trade-off results in a defensive system that defies standard infantry conventions. No other classification of personal armor can claim to be able to stand toe-to-toe with enemy vehicles and survive.

I can live with the Amarr Scout like that - no battle skirt, but I'm not so sure about the slot layout. If they try to push something with 1 low and 1 high at basic level maintaining the slower but tougher theme of our other suits I'm afraid it will not work well. I mean, sacrificing speed for a marginal ehp increase in a Scout suit can't end well...
Also, I wonder about what bonus will it have besides the profile dampening. Something to help assassinate and/or flanking with laser weaponry? It should be the most combat oriented of the scouts suits after all. But I digress. Battle skirt, yeah, I can live without it. |

If you have at least 200hp of shields then I have to use an additional 1-2 rounds to take you out. With the bonus that explosive weapons do to armor, I can O-3HKO almost all armor tankers, even heavies.
And when you only have 6 in a clip and 18 rounds total, ammo is not something I can afford to waste.
And yeah the battle skirts do scare me. It scares me to think that somebody would find them necessary.
Oh and I've already got enough swag to last myself lifetimes

Marginally better HP is not worth speed and a sidearm on a scout suit. They have to find a better way to make the Amarr scout unique because HP is not really something a scout cares much about. |

and btw, the minmatar heavy is the single most terrifying dropsuit in existence, and we design for function not form. I'm actually quite impressed that the Minmatar scout suit does not fall apart when jumping out of the MCC. i'd liken minmatar gear to an incredibly reliable version of ork gear from W40K, it may look scrapped together and simple but it is surprisingly effective. Yeah but you know an Ork Army will never get within WAAARGH range of a Tau Army and live.... That combined with Space Marines is the Amarr parallel. actually the correct parallel for the matari would more be tau with aforementioned weaponry, the amarr parallel would actually be the sisters of battle, religous fanatics with too much firepower and too little sense. The Tau are technologically advance and desire the unity of all peoples under the Tenets of the greater good.... if anything they are the Amarr Parallel.
Though sisters of Battle are ******* epic, I used to have an inquisition Army with them at the core, they do not fit with the Amarr in any sense other than having faith. |

I've never really liked the skirt, and hoped the scout suit would lack one. Armored skirts would make a lot more sense... if we were WWII German tanks, and we were protecting our easily-disabled tracks; properly designed leg armor, however, shouldn't require a skirt. I think the whole concept of a skirt was only included to make it visually obvious why Amarr were so damn slow, what with that massive amount of extra HP we get...
I not only don't want a cumbersome skirt, but I'd like ultra-tight pants that would show my golden camel-toe of doom. |

There was an initial uproar regarding this, and we all sort of hoped CCP would go back and add in the battle skirt so it can be a true Amarr suit. But recently, CPM Nova Knife wrote the following in a Skype conversation, Nova Knife wrote:no skirt CPM ART SPOILERS After all, just read the description of Amarr suits coming directly from the game: Dust 514 wrote:Aesthetics are a vital aspect of the suit's design, because to the Amarr, aesthetics are function. Agreed.

If you look between the legs, you can see that the central coat is just as long as the others meaning it would still need physics/animations to prevent it from clipping when moving. |
