I did several matches today, only had one bad one (my squad suspected glitching, hacking, cheating, etc. usually I hear no complaints from these people so it was a pretty odd one) most of the games involved red lining, quick kills, went several matches without dying, was always in first place, I was even able to save my friend from an entire squad while running with my ridiculous gear...and tomorrow I will actually start using damage mods.
So why am I posting this? 2 goals in mind, I would like to eliminate the term "try-hard" that gets used when fighting waves of proto suits that are overpowering you in comical fashion, the reason being that it's completely inaccurate, these people don't try hard at all, I was casually walking through bullet storms and eating grenades.
Secondly I'm well aware of the effect proto-stomping has on the game and to its newcomers and would like to share an idea that one of the squadmates told me that might fix the problem. It's very simple, you set the level of the people you're fighting. Just have separate rooms for different suits. Have a room for people who want to use militia gear, basic, advanced, and proto, and basically have it so that you can enter the match with any suit below the set difficulty level; so if you entered an advanced pub room, you can use militia, basic, or advanced gear, but not proto (not sure if he meant modules or weapons too but I think that everything would even out nicely if it were just the dropsuit levels that were restricted, less complicated too), there will still be stompers but it would be far less extreme, rewards will scale accordingly, and it would let players choose who to play based on their confidence level and not their skill points.
I believe the guy who told me this is called Raz Sidona and he's probably already posted this but I think it's a good idea and it's related to my random gloating post :) It's called PRO stomping because there's no way to matchmake based on meta level. If we had that, then very, very few would complain. Actually, the only ones that would complain are those trying to destroy tanks, since very few modules are above metal level 3, and heaven forbid infantry should have to use teamwork to destroy a tank. |
