I didn't used to run proto suits because I was afraid to die in them and lose cash, such a silly fear. I did several matches today, only had one bad one (my squad suspected glitching, hacking, cheating, etc. usually I hear no complaints from these people so it was a pretty odd one) most of the games involved red lining, quick kills, went several matches without dying, was always in first place, I was even able to save my friend from an entire squad while running with my ridiculous gear...and tomorrow I will actually start using damage mods.
So why am I posting this? 2 goals in mind, I would like to eliminate the term "try-hard" that gets used when fighting waves of proto suits that are overpowering you in comical fashion, the reason being that it's completely inaccurate, these people don't try hard at all, I was casually walking through bullet storms and eating grenades.
Secondly I'm well aware of the effect proto-stomping has on the game and to its newcomers and would like to share an idea that one of the squadmates told me that might fix the problem. It's very simple, you set the level of the people you're fighting. Just have separate rooms for different suits. Have a room for people who want to use militia gear, basic, advanced, and proto, and basically have it so that you can enter the match with any suit below the set difficulty level; so if you entered an advanced pub room, you can use militia, basic, or advanced gear, but not proto (not sure if he meant modules or weapons too but I think that everything would even out nicely if it were just the dropsuit levels that were restricted, less complicated too), there will still be stompers but it would be far less extreme, rewards will scale accordingly, and it would let players choose who to play based on their confidence level and not their skill points.
I believe the guy who told me this is called Raz Sidona and he's probably already posted this but I think it's a good idea and it's related to my random gloating post :) |

Even if we had a map that you only can enter in millitia gear you would still proto stomp the newbees, simply becourse of your skills in modules and weapons are so much higher.
A lot of players have more then 25 mill. SPand they have a lot of lvl 5 skills, and they would still own a newbee that just started to play.
And a pub match with 32 full protos would end in half the team standing in the MCC or behind the red line becourse they dont want to die more then 2-3 times in a match, it gets way to expensive and players would loose millions of ISK. If you die to many times.
Even if you devided the maps in to SP amount it would still suck, you wuold never get an easy kill and you would never get the HELL YEAH i killed that proto *****. You would olny fight players at you own SP lvl. And only the skills of the player behind the controller/keys would determine who wins, your SP would not really matter anymore. They may have better mods and weapons but there's only so much you can put on a militia suit, doesn't even matter if you have PG and CPU maxed out you just don't have enough slots to stack on defense or anything really. Yes the skills would still make a difference but there's a MUCH bigger difference between a militia and a proto suit with the same skills. I see what you mean though, it could just lead to the tougher players going into a militia battle and farming kills. Which is why I think academy should be MUCH longer, or just have the option to fight higher tier players as well as the option to do academy if you still qualify, I think you should be able to do academy if you have below 5 mil SP. |

Idk just ideas I felt like bringing to the table, I still would prefer it if they had the metal gear matchmaking setup, in that there really wasn't any matchmaking, you just made the room and people could stay in as long as they wanted, keep fighting the same people as long as they wanted. Think that would eliminate the stomping, if someone didn't like the people they were fighting, if they thought they couldn't stand up to them, fight a room where you can, or not, if you leave the matchmaking partially up to the players I think it would allow them to even everything out themselves. I think they could learn more about the game anyway by fighting the same people and finding new ways to subvert each other, test each other, recognize patterns, etc. |

I don't think those front rail turrets on sicas do dmg tbo lol those are like the best turrets ever! you can hit your target 10% of the time and at the speed of an assault forge gun, just with 1/5th of the damage! ok they're crap, think I would rather get pushed along with the tank and punch people we drive by. They helped once when I used em in gattic's tank but that's all of the credit I'm giving them lol |

CharCharOdell wrote:"proto-stomping" is a biproduct of PC. In Chromosome, people made much less money so it wasn't AS common. Now that I'm rich, I could run a Madrugar with a proto turret every match and not go broke for months OR run only proto because I know I'll make it back in PC that very same night.
Separating player suits is a bad idea because the reason people get better gear is to have an advantage. A better idea would not be to STOP proto stomping, but discourage it---> The same way nullsec can be more profitable than high-sec, there needs to be null, low, and high-sec battles for pubs where the rewards are between 10k-50k (high), 50k-400k (low), and 400k-800k(null). This way noobs can get proto-stomped in null-sec and get rich, OR protos can stomp noobs and lose much more money. Of course, we would have to increase the payout of FW and PC, accordingly. I keep hearing this idea, sounds good, but again if money isn't really an issue then separating based on rewards isn't effective, it will just lead vets to proto stomp because they can, just to get kills or wins which at this point is the only other thing to get besides cash (assuming they plan on hitting the SP cap every week anyway) |
