are ppl really that paranoid? in one match i saw him sitting in the corner doing nothing but spin like a used up blender with his scanner on. of course i showed him my true feelings for his scanner by shoving the knife up his hoohah. anyone else gets annoyed with this trying to sneak up on ppl? |

Haha I do the 360 scan. After I decide which side is more worth it and also it helps when you have a full squad. 3 to one side and 3 to another. |

scanner got far to common and it has too much range anyway imho...
the matches I am in everyone and everything is always perma scanned. this just turned the game into zerg fest and uplinks got almost useless now cause you cant hide them AGAIN. |

I'm surprised he didn't spot you sneaking up on him, scanning 360 degrees as he was. No situational awareness, apparently? |

Using a knife implies that he was using a scout, and thus he may have avoided the scan. |

So because we can't see anyone on the minimap anymore now we need a tool. Now people are using the active scanner and you're mad? I'm not sure how to take this post. Are you complaining that someone is scanning? |

That's not paranoia. That is knowing how to get the most use out of your equipment. What is paranoia, getting scannned by a Proto Scanner |

Has everyone forgotten that before, when passive scan was shared, practically every enemy was visible without any effort at all? |

If you noticed, majority of players argue without analysis. Just leave it. |

how is that different to now? scanning takes basically no effort and makes certain play styles unviable. flanking and sneaking around is currently not really possible when everything is perma scanned. the current scanner is a step back in gameplay, promotes zerg style and hurts again scouts the most.
the fact that scanners only share vision only is squads means nothing, pretty much everyone squads up, even new players form squads in pub matches now. |

sneaking is quite possible I do it ll the time even when scanners are on board.
just takes more effort and sometimes you need to adjust your play style, plain and simple the same tricks will not work every time, and if scanners are on board you can still flank they will just see you comming, even if they see you comming quite frequently it won't matter, if you have them flanked |

Scanners have made dampeners worthwhile. If you don't show up on scans, you will only appear on the minimap to people who have direct line of sight on you (and not to any of their squad or teammates, which is different from pre-1.4).
They have made stealth more viable - if you like stealth games, try running dampeners and a scanner in the MIDDLE of a bunch of reds, while picking them off one by one as the rest look the other way. It's a thrill. In the land of the scanner, the unseen man is king.
Scanning also means that 1-2 equipment slots per squad must now be permanently occupied to benefit from scan intel.
With regard to scouts, scouts with Lvl 5 in the racial suit skill don't need any modules to evade the advanced scanner. They need one militia module and Lvl 2 in the dampening skill to evade the 28db proto scanners. No one seems to use the Duvolle Focused scanner so that one is moot. If scouts don't think its worth it to invest 75000 SP, 1 low slot, and 320 ISK to avoid proto scans, then they deserve to get lit up.

You can defeat the scans, you just choose not to.
I could not run the scanner. I could use some other type of equipment just as you COULD choose to use dampeners. If your suit isn't stealthy, you COULD skill into a different suit.
I've come to the conclusion that there is literally nothing that people will fail to complain about.
I heard some dude complaining about logi suits the other day. "That Calogi with 1700 HP"
