Yes, THIS is Dust!

Once the PS4 come out Dust 514 will lose a large amount of players, especially when Planetside 2 launches for the PS4.

i'm guessing the op doesn't do a whole lot of reading.

you should give a look to the predictions about ccp from 2003 perhaps.

Personally i think the decision not to release even a compatable client on ps4 is dumb. they don't have to improve the graphics at the moment but just make it available to download and run on a ps4 as well as ps3 because as much as they wanna believe there are 80mill ps3s out there. there are probs only 100k of those that still have dust installed and anyone interested in dust will see planetside 2 and destiny and trade in their ps3. very few people will keep their ps3 just for dust especially if the game stores begin offering trade in incentives.

this current gen has outlived itself. as much as devs wont to tell you they are still going to make games for them we all know they're lying their ass off. we'll perhaps see the fifa/madden/nba 2014/15 games on this current gen and not much else. console buying trends have changed, more stores offer trade ins meaning easier access to higher end gadgets.

I seriously don't see this game lasting much longer anymore. CCP is going to start taking away vehicles and BPO's from a community that is already sick and tired of this "Rollercoaster of Hell" development strategy (screw-ups are so consistant, that it HAS to be intentional).

Good luck CCP, seriously.


If player counts/retention, shockingly, do not begin improving by the end of this year, I would hope that you would take the game offline for at least a couple of years or more in order to privately develop dust for the next generation. That would give plenty of time for the PS4 installed base to grow, and lets face it CCP, you were never going to see even 1% of the 80 million PSN users anyway.

New, stronger hardware would breathe new life in this game with improved graphics and performance. But most importantly, taking dust offline and then moving dust to the ps4 will give you guys room to screw up without ruining the games reputation. You guys are still clueless as to how a fun FPS is made and you guys NEED time to be able to make mistakes and learn from them WITHOUT ruining what's left of Dust's reputation.

Take what you learned here, these past two years, and use this experience to finally give people a game people will be playing for years. And when people visit the DUST 514 booth at E3 2017, you could take your place right beside Final Fantasy XIV: ARR as another great comeback story. Both Dust 514 and Final Fantasy XIV received terrible reviews upon release and complaints of bugs/glitches. The general consensus is that they are both unfinished games....

...So take Dust offline, rebuild it for the PS4, market it as an undeniable improvement from the ps3 version, ???, and profit.

How would taking it offline benefit CCP at all? Your acting like this game is terrible. I enjoy this game immensely and while it could do with many improvements, that doesn't mean it should be taken offline...... Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean everyone else should have to suffer for it. If you don't like how the game is going then stop playing it for a "few years" and just come back whenever you think its "finished"

But whatever, you can doom and gloom all you want, ill just continue playing the game like always do.

Anyway, where do I begin? "It's long forgotten" Yeah, no. You do not know that. FFXIV proves otherwise. Also, i'm not suggesting the completely discontinue the game. I'm suggesting a rebirth, unless CCP has a trick up their sleeve to get rid of the negative stigma they've created for themselves. I highly doubt the latter.

And the whole thing about 2-3 years without user feedback and bug reports? Easily remedied with PS4/PSN developer friendly patching/QA system. You want to know the hard truth?

A tiny player base's opinions are not suitable substitutes for competent developers.

I'm talking, CCP Shanghai needs a total overhaul. Just like Square Enix did.

Completely agree. They should take it off, go shoot some rilfes, carbines, Mgs. And start from scratch and stop with empty promises.

The problem with Dust isn't that it's on PS3. The problem is that it is made using the awful Unreal engine and that it hasn't seen any new content for half a year. And potentially we won't see any more content until 2014.
