So please follow me here, I'm only going to be talking about maxing out a single set of skills to level 5 and how long that takes in both games.
For Dust it's taking into account normal boosters, not omega.
For Eve online I'm taking into account +5 implants
So 1st lets talk Eve online. Lets say you just start a new character. And you want to train up every single ship skill in the game. Ammar, minmatar, caldari, and gallente. Getting the following skills to level 5. Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, Battlecruiser, Battleship.
This skill plan takes 13 months. 398days and 20 hours. Over a year! You unlock and max out 72 Ships.
Now on to Dust 514. So you start off a new character in Dust 514. You buy your boosters and you set off. You really fall in love with the logi and you choose to level up all 4 of the logi dropsuits to level 5. You want to unlock all 4 racial prototype suits. Each logi skill takes 3 months to level up to 5. * grumble* Unlike Eve online you can't even use the protosuit until it's level 5.
This skill plan takes 12 months, 365 days. You unlock 4 dropsuits.

So please follow me here, as I'm only going to be talking about two entirely different things but equate them as the same thing as a means to make a point.
So whenever I try to make lasagna that **** takes like TWO hours to prepare and cook properly, but whenever I'm just making spaghetti it takes like 30 minutes. Seriously, I'm using the same ingredients. Why the hell am I having to spend so much time on something that's essentially the same thing? This is completely unjustified.
As such, I propose we rebalance lasagna's cook time to the same as spaghetti. I mean, I don't care to spend the time to actually learn the intricacies involved in each dish. I would much rather look at it superficially and use my all-knowing wisdom to decide what's right. |

Um, you forget something basic here - for example there are 6 Minmatar frigates that have the same skill requirements, 6 Amarr frigates that have the same skill requirements, etc... and you are leaving out the variations of the Dust suits (standard/advanced/prototype). Your comparison is biased. |

Look at all the sheep
Ok so if you only compare frigates to drop suits... to max out all 24 frigates for every race in the game it only takes 27 days. How it is justified that it takes 3 months to unlock 6 dropsuits, of a single race only, and only in a single class? Since 6 suits are mostly the same and have the same bonuses per level.
27 days to MAX OUT ALL FRIGATES What is wrong with you people thinking the current design makes any sense! |

Ok but we have to actually based it off of the example then, so I'll use your pasta example since it obviously has everything to do with skill training.

The number 72 you gave is not just frigates; I didn't feel like listing out each number of each class of ship. Seriously though, if you want to compare - I would say light frames would be roughtly equivalent to small ships - ok we have 14 variants of suits currently vs however many frigates. The difference you are neglecting - it took CCP 10 years to introduce all of the Eve variants and you expect the light variants to have the same numbers after a year? You'r expectations are way off. |

No, what? We're not even talking about the same thing. And for the record eve online was released with 40 ships and no racial gaps.
But back on to your point. Just think about it. Lets say you are a new player playing this game in 2 years time. At that point there are all light frams introduced into dust. unlike todays FOUR variants we have instead 12. 4 basic light suits. 8 more scouts/pilots.
Unlike the Ops thoughts are taken into consideration with the current training time system of dust it would take 5 months per race to max those suit skills. 1 year and 8 months to get all of the light frames unlocked and leveled up to 5.
For Eve online it would only take 27 days.... Is that really ok with you? The point is I expect them to fill out the skill trees and I wish they would set them at a level as if they were planning ahead.
PLEASE PLEASE explain to me how I am so wrong because I don't see it. |

If you don't think that lasagna are worth the time invested you must be a really bad cook. Same goes for dust/eve. If you are not having fun why bother skilling/playing?
Also you deliperately failed to take into account all the different weapon sistems you would have to skill for each ship line (missiles, blaster, railgun, lasers, drones, proiectile). In dust you can skill just 1 weapon and use it with the same results on (almost) every suit. |

yeah... and we know this is going to change. The devs stated they will be adding new bonuses once they code the game to allow them to give different suits different bonuses. And you can use weapons on other ships in eve too... |

No...... it takes much more time then that to unlock every ship in the game. And just because its unlocked doesn't mean its useful at all. You need to unlock all of that ships weapons and mods and related skills in order for it to be decent. Hell, the biggest ship in EVE online takes about 1.5 years just to unlock it, but even then its still not good unless other things are unlocked to compliment it. 3 months for one dropsuit is probably a lot, but that probably directly corolates with the fact that theres like 12 dropsuits in the game, while theres hundreds of ships in EVE online....... |

Wow.
First off Logistics is a Tech 2 from an eve perspective. (Specialist)
Anyways max theoretical SP rate in eve is about 66,528 a day.
So we got the following skills requirement
Starship command 4 (defaults at 1) Amarr Frigate (2) Amarr Destroyer (2) Amarr Cruiser (5) Amarr Battlecruiser (6) Amarr Battleship (8) Caldari Frigate (2) Caldari Destroyer (2) Caldari Cruiser (5) Caldari Battlecruiser (6) Caldari Battleship (8) Gallente Frigate (2) Gallente Destroyer(2) Gallente Cruiser (5) Gallente Battlecruiser (6) Gallente Battleship (8) Minmatar Frigate (2) Minmatar Destroyer (2) Minmatar Cruiser (5) Minmatar Battlecruiser (6) Minmatar Battleship (8)
93 Multiplier total
28,915,560 Million Skill points to max out tech 1 ships.
435 days with max attributes and implants
For all tech 1 suits in dust 514
Dropsuit command (1) Amarr Heavy (4) Amarr Medium (4) Amarr Light (4) Caldari Heavy (4) Caldari Medium (4) Caldari Light (4) Gallente Heavy (4) Gallente Medium (4) Gallente Light (4) Minmatar Heavy (4) Minmatar Medium (4) Minmatar Light (4)
49 Multiplier total
13,369,560 Skill point to max out all tech 1 suits with missing suits included.
24,000 passive skill points daily.
557 Days pure passive
24000 x 7 + 190400 Active Weekly Cap = 358,400 a week
37 Weeks or
259 Days without boosters capping every week.
With boosters
24,000 *1.5*7 + 190400*1.5 = 537600 points a week 24 weeks
or 174 days for all tech 1 suits and would be near equivalent to using implants in eve as implants are not given for free in eve either.
With omegas 24000 * 2 * 7 + 190400 * 2 = 716,800 a week
18.6 weeks or 131 days
Oh and lets not forget the daily login 42,000 a week once maxed out.
13,369,560
So with daily login bonus 358,400 + 42,000 = 400,400 = 33 weeks = 234 days 537,600 + 42,000 = 579,600 = 23 weeks = 161 days Boosters 716,800 + 42,000 = 758,800 = 17 weeks = 123 days Omegas

So is this not true for Dust 514? Once you train up the dropsuit your done? I'm pretty sure if you level up a dust dropsuit skill to 5 it doesn't make that suit any good.

yeah duh, all I'm saying is maybe CCP should plan ahead. At the moment the system is not future proof.
FACT it takes 5 months to max and train every single frigate in the game tech 1 and 2. FACT it takes 20 months to train just medium suits of every race and that's with no weapon skills, support skills, ect.
Of crouse it has to do with less suits in dust than eve but that means in the future this game will have 40+ if not 60+ years of skills to train. I'm not going to play that I'll play eve instead. that game has 1/8th the grind. And eve online has 10 times the grind of any other MMO. |

Lets just make sure this is clear
There will be 4 scouts, 4 logis, 4 pilots, 12 basic suits, 4 assault suits, 4commando suits, 4 commander suits, 4 sentinel suits.
That's 40 skills to train at current sp cap/and skill multipliers it will take 12 months to train the 12 basic suits to level 5. The rest of the suits will take longer *larger modifier* for a total of 56 months. a total of 68 months or 4 years.
4 years just for the dropsuit section of skills.
Now the whole of all of the spaceships in ALL OF EVE ONLINE is 6 years of skill training. That's all tech 1-2-3, all sub capital and capital ships. ORE ships and everything.
There is nothing else to level up in that skill section and that's after it started at 2 years at release. The game has grown. If eve onlines ship skills section started off at 6 years or even 4 years like dust then it would be far over that number. This is about balance and the future of the health of the game which is at stake. Oh and Iron wolf saber did agree with me when I 1st brought this up the day of release. |

Feel like this could be reworded and use on the tiercide threads that our popping up on these forums.. |
