This is all a bad idea . I to am a new player i didn't understand the skill tree setup due to lack of instruction & how it works. Then i wasted much of my sp on skills i didn't really need. Then iI was prevented from grinding out my sp needed to get the setup i desired by a cap. I know one can wonder where i get the time. answer currently injured nothing better to do. Until now since i realize i only get 200-1000 sp per battle & most skills being 300000 - 1000000 sp i will simply refuse top play & wait for bonuses to kick back in or find another fps. I know i will be flamed I'm just saying what many other broke players are thinking in this economy. Which being that i will not not play another match for a week plus that means all you paid gamers have one less under geared sheep to shoot at cheers ;) Oh & for the record so of us players whom can't use a mic therefor never join a big corp or team squad well here's a clue why some never speak. It is a dilemma. I have been playing for a long time and have over 24 Million SP and still have to grind for two- three weeks just to unlock one lvl on a skill. I believe the reason they do this, is lack of content. If there was more content then the cost of SP would be lowered in my opinion. I was told when I started to play it would take 7 to 10 years to unlock all skills. I have been playing close to a year and I cannot see myself playing that long at the current mindless SP grind. My CORP requires a MIC but if you tell them your situation and you are a mature player, we would love to have you. So from vet keep your chin up and do not let the SP grind ruin your fun. Also how long have you been playing and have you thought of starting a new account. Next time if you choose place your SP in core skills, like Armor, shields, CPU, and PG upgrades. |

Here's a tip for gaining more SP: Don't suck, and don't play ambush. Ambush is purely for scrubs who don't enjoy tactical gameplay, and offers little in the way of SP and ISK rewards. And the grind is part of the game, if you don't like it, HTFU or GTFO. |

I dont understand why you're only making 200-1000 sp per game , unless the sp is woefully short in the academy which i doubt, I guess you're just not doing enough in the game.
200 sp you would get more than that for just sitting in the WB and do nothing the entire game, heck you'd even get more than 1000. A game should be getting you a minimum of 5K-10K+ sp for a full game. |

I recent;y started fps a few weeks ago my last being in 2005 planet side 1. Got out of gaming for a while. decided to finally try a fps again love planetside 2 but my notebook can't handle the awesomeness. Been playing dust541 on my ol ps3 along with deadspace 3 personal favorite. Love the idea of dust Reminds me of a game when i was a teen called Counterstrike which was also part of another favorite called unreal. I am a mute that isn't gonna change but i can hear just fine. And i'm very team oriented I don't like being farmed so i will lay back with a squad member and cover plus lay down cover fire to help team member reach objectives while drawing fire. |

He's talking about after his bonus runs out. You only get rewarded a maximum of 1.000 SP(1500 w/ booster) per game, all WP you earn after 1000 goes to waste.

I think he means he has hit the cap and now WP = SP for the rest of the week. Yes a lot of players do not like the cap either including VETs.
You could try the squad finder and just explain your situation.
As for the grind you may want to give yourself little objectives in game, not sp related, to make things more interesting. |

Thank you so it is a weekly cap. As I said i won't play during the cap other then one match a day and maybe one to help a friend out but that's it. and yes I'm the type of player that would rather give cover while the hack is safely completed rather then run up mindlessly trying to scavenge hack exp like wise I'm the kinda guy that looks for clone gens to hack before the objectives, I know i will be out gunned skill wise & equipment wise so i use close quarters & hit run tactics usually trying to run with a group to get my frags & avoid being clone farmed . Thank you for the friendly replies & advice. good gaming to all.

Hi OmegaKelevra, welcome to Dust. It sounds like you enjoy the universe despite the SP grinding involved to reach the highest level of equipment available. I continue to play even when SP capped as I play this for fun and the challenge being in an online FPS games with allot of competitive gamers. Stay and give Dust a chance, having high level equipment is not needed to do well in regular pub matches. Try to spend the time get to know the maps, skill into a few different roles as it in my opinion gets more fun being able to change play style depending on ones mood and the match. Personally I often run in dropsuits I only heave level 1 in with weapons like the laser rifle also only skilled into level 1. I recommend try out most of the weapons, all are useable, no SP is wasted unless you spend them in corp skills with no intention of creating your own corp. I have level 5 plasma canon and level 3 proficiency and rarely use this weapon now.
I have a mic but it is rarely connected, you can easily squad up without a mic and lots of corps accept players without a mic, my own one person corp would be honored to have you as a member, tax rate 0 :)
I was lucky and discovered Dust back in January as it went out of Beta, starting at 0 SP like everyone else, I have tried alt one time and it definitely was more challenging but not impossible knowing the maps and weapons. |

Plenty of corporations out there that don't require microphones. Look around in the recruitment subforum.
And if you have a lot of time on your hands you might consider playing 2 or more characters at the same time. Make one an assault, one a pilot, one a sniper, etc.
And the weekly cap is 192k SP. You'll be able to tell how much of that is left to earn in your battle summary screen. |

Just to add something here, why dont you make (or see if one is available) a soundboard? Like they used in counter strike, you can load it onto your phone and press the responce needed quickly and easily, this gives your squad an added bit of help.
Also just explain to the Corp ( although you have had afew offers allready) of whats going on, and your able then to give a response on the battlefield if needed.
Its just an idea, might be helpful to you, it might not. But atleast you have that idea if you wish to use it. |

TO be fair skills should mostly all cost half if not 25% of the current training level. Or sp payout should be given out at a faster pace, the cap is important, but the low ceiling for how much sp we can earn is not. They want to understood how fast everyone levels up. as you level up your sp is worth less and less for how much benefit it gives you. The problem here is the sp sink in dust is already larger than eve and it's missing half it's core content! If sp gains were increase or the cap just raised it would lower that years to cap figure. Imo the whole issue is how little the game rewards you nowadays for wp in battle. You can just sit in the MCC and get 90% of the sp and isk... why? The game WAS NOT LIKE THAT IN BETA. It only happened once the game launched as far as I can remember, I see no reason why getting 1000wp in a match shouldn't reward 10,000sp... on top of the sp over time spent in the match. Which also should only count time spent out side of the redzone...
That last part is just using the same system Dust used to use a year ago...
Support skills should obviously be more but there shouldn't be a category for both dropsuits and vehicles, there wasn't before...

which is a good thing. The issue here is the cap should be raised because the grind is unnecessarily long. It's only due to lack of content to fill the advertised 7 years of skill training feature. |

welcome to the club, i been playing since the beginning of the open beta and i can't find the motivation to play longer than 2 hours a day. Even when you have enough SP, you will find out that Proto equipment is unaffordable for most people.

Thank you guys for all the information as well as advice and yes I will b joining a corp asap that understands my lack of voice chat, as well as the soundboard idea i will start looking into that as well. As far as skills go I will be trying to focus on two setup for my one player, i was going for a heavy assault suit hmg unit & one lite ground unit long range sniper for days when getting farmed by Aur equipped gear squads isn't all that appealing , as for my play habits i will consider a 2nd player & keep all informed. I hope to meet everyone of you in game on both sides of the coin. Everyone loves to win But i more enjoy a good equal fight where every battle could decide the game. Consider me a friend any and all i would be honored. |

We play ambush because we got bored of skirmish and domination and it a good way of getting isk |
