Ten years later we're hearing the same exact things from the Dust 514 guys. I can't like this enough. |

Ten years later we're hearing the same exact things from the Dust 514 guys. While I do appreciate what you are saying and I certainly do hope Dust sticks around for the long haul, as I've invested quite a bit of time and money into this game, it is hubris to expect that just because CCP was able to pull off what it has with Eve that a similar development model will work with Dust. Eve is a niche title with little competition, a big fish in a small pond if you will. Dust is a guppy in an ocean full of sharks. Like I said, I hope we are looking back at this game 10 years from now and reminiscing about how much it has changed and improved, I just don't think it is a given because they did it with Eve. Wasn't aware there were any FPS games with persistent territory, insane customization (fitting) and an actual drive behind the social aspect and not just Team A vs Team B. Planetside 2 comes close but there's not much in the way of the social aspect, you can't backstab one another or the like. Most folks that play FPS do not care about persistent territory. Case in point: At the time of this post there are 352 dust players online and 23,000 plus BF3 players online and that is just for the PS3. Dust has a wonderful concept. That is what brought it to most to our attention. I do not wish to see the game fail or die, but I am a realist. The game is just not very good at the moment and has become boring. Unless you are in a PC battle, the pub games are a snooze fest which makes them no different than Cod or BF or any other shooter out there. 352 Dust players on....

I'm going to assume you don't know about downtime.

There is not many of us that play this game. If you believe otherwise, then you are being delusional. I'm not saying there are as many as other established games. I'm just laughing at how you pulled a number 3 minutes after downtime for a niche game.
I feel that Dust will carry on, and it will grow, and it will shrink, but over time, I see how it might have the same potential that could make it part of the EVE universe.
But judging by your pessimistic attitude and word usage to isolate Dust 514 into the circular filing bin in your mind, then I have only one thing to say to you:
Battlefield is that way ------------------------------------> |
