There are railings and ledges and pipes and crates and low lying platforms everywhere in this game, but the only way to get on top of any of them is to climb a ladder or jump on top of them from a higher position. Battle would feel much more fluid if you could simply climb atop or over anything that is reasonable low-lying. This would enhance the mobility of every suit in the game, allowing for new ways to get the drop on enemies and new ways to get a line of sight on targets that are just out of view.
How would it work? Well to keep it simple, basically if you run and jump at a ledge and it's within or below your field of vision (when looking straight ahead), you should be able to pull yourself up and over it. Give it a couple second long animation, make it require stamina and make it take more stamina based on how low your movement speed is. If you run out of stamina while climbing your animation takes twice as long.
Of course this would need to be adjusted per suit. A heavy carrying a heavy weapon would be too encumbered to clear a chest-high ledge, but he could a waist high one. On the other hand, a person using Nova knives has their hands pretty much free, so they should probably be able to grab slightly above their FOV.
This addition would make battles much more fluid and make moving from one place to another much easier (in many cases right now people have to take large detours to get around small objects that serve no purpose other than to block their path, like railings). It would speed up the pace of battles, allowing people to move in on targets and hack points faster, as well as open up harder-to-reach areas of the map for use as ambush spots or uplink points.
So CCP, is there any chance of this happening ever? |

I love it and I want it but we need to fix the clipping issues first or else the forum rage of scouts that died to AR fire because they got magically magnetised to the railing they were trying to vault would actually set monitors on fire in real life |

I would love a 'Brink' style parkour/mobility system;
- Scouts can run fastest, can jump highest and can pull themselves better then any other class, and can 'parkour' in that they can wall run or at least get a jump boost when at or very close to walls
- Mediums are well rounded; can vault, and can climb things within arms length, but don't get the speed, jump or wall run bonus of scouts
- Heavies can only vault and are generally slow and sluggish
- Jump is still there but would be more of a 'dodge' option rather than 'mobility'

I think it's still working, but you must not leave kill screen and wait for your revive. Watch for "triage unit" (if any ) distance approaches 0 m. Then pay attention and do exactly as described in the thread. If you are successful, the screen should appear to "slide" for a brief moment.
I swear i'd managed to replicate it couple of times during last two patches. Although i have never witnessed anybody rezzed by me or near me, doing this

I would be happy with pretty much any vault mechanic and some more sense when moving around small obstacles. Doesn't need to be complicated. I just want to be able to get over that 12 inch high piece of concrete and that low railing :( |

This is a great idea. It would stop all the dramatic chases that end in waiting for stamina to charge enough to jump over a railing. I'm pretty sure that in real life I could just step over one of those. |

Seconding this. It would be the perfect template for some nice dropsuit variety. Hell, it would be a way to indirectly nerf vehicles - If dropsuits can parcour, they will have mobility options that can offset the power and speed of most vehicles. |

TBH it can't be too hard. The hardest part is trying to create an animation system to work with it.
If the hit box is X meters away from the wall, then when the player looks at the wall, and jumps, the wall run animation activates for scouts. Once the hitbox touches designated edges of walls and such the climbing animation activates.
The real issue isn't in trying to make the mobility itself work, but trying to make a fluid animation system that doesn't clip through objects, and doesn't make the body do bone breaking movements.
If CCP is nice companies will lend code from their games that have parkour systems, Crytek with Crysis, Splash Damage with Brink, or DICE with Mirrors Edge |

Some basic necessities.
Ability to walk over extremely low level terrain such as from ground onto 5cm high ledge. (aka clipping)
Better slope climbing ability without stutter jumping
Something slightly more advanced
Leaping low level barriers instead of having to jump and completely clear them (aka cycling through the crouch animation in mid air to look like you vault a railing)
6 Month end game of jumping and stuff
[*] Parkour system of jumping, vaulting, obstacle flip, bounce jump etc |
