Platinum is really dense and strong. Stronger than iron, and as resistant as gold, it is also the best conductive metal, making it quite resistant to electricity. Makes sense to that the Amarr would make armor out of it, especially if they have a large supply of it. Great metal for use in war machines if you can find a large supply of it, which shouldn't be too hard in space.

Does Aqua-Regia do any AV? Because if he does, you platinum tankers are royally screwed.

Good summary. That is exactly why I imagine this is done. Does Platinum have a high melting point as well. I imagine that would play a huge part in Amarr warfare considering they heat their weapons up several thousand degrees.

Platinum has a better natural hardness and toughness than iron, not low alloy high strength steels, and not even close to austempered (bainitic) steel. Which had an ultimate strength upwards of 5x, and a hardness that is equivalent or greater by 1/2.

Well conductive in many cases you could say would be synonymous with resistant to electricity, easier to ground and disperse over its surface.

I was thinking more something along the lines of rubbish bin tanks..... I have no idea where Matari would even lay their grubby little hands on fake diamonds.

They're inexpensive and simple to produce, in a world where we have hand held rail guns, and plasma firing assault rifles I don't think the technology to produce it for tanks as much of a stretch.

Perhaps though it would be an option that makes more sense, recycled steel. It would have more of a dull gray oxidized steel look, less clean lines, more rivets and seams from it being assembled from different pieces and recycled vehicles and installations.

I'll quit my insipid biting comments when I see all racial heavies and scouts.
