I just recently finished up the Empyrean Age trailer. Apparently the main reason that the Caldari were able to take and hold Caldari Prime was because they said that they would literally liquidate the entire Gallente population on the planet. How do you address that problem? |

No, just kidding. I just finished The Empyrean Age and just bought Templar One. I don't know exactly how President Fouritain handles it, all I know is that capsuleers had a huge part of the end result, as is commonplace. |

I read Templar One a while ago, but I can't remember what happened mostly because I don't think that I understood what was happening in the first place. But one detail that /does/ stick out in my mind is that Fouritain is no longer president. |

Heth wasn't happy about the titan being sunk, Gallente ground forces moved in but were stopped by the Caldari.

She paid a fairly hefty price for refusing that order. And *that* led to an official investigation into Tibus Heth and his denouncement, then a month long siege by the Caldari of a station he was hiding in. He escaped, and is now on the run with some of his Templis Dragonaurs. |

In addition, there are actually a couple of books out there as well if you are really interested. Note: it's mainly Eve centered given Eve has been around for about 10 years, and Dust is new-ish. |

Keep in mind, The Empyrean Age wrecked the Caldari roleplaying community in EVE. I don't RP, but I have played EVE with those who do. If you read the chronicles about the Caldari people before the book, a rich back story on their culture gets boiled down to Marxist class warfare. I could go into it at length as to why, but that's not what this thread is about.
The reason I mention this is I think the recent "current events" in EVE in regards to the Caldari are meant to erase what seemed like a dumbed-down reimagining of the Caldari in permanent marker.
That being said, the Caldari Prime occupation was one of the coolest things CCP did for the EVE universe. The fact the story evolved was awesome, although they really should have put that fire out sooner in Malaken.

I believe nearly all of it is written by CCP employees. In fact, a lot of the earlier chronicles were by game designers doing it on the side. They have had dedicated authors. Tony G was one, he wrote the first and third books.
Now, the ISD news articles I'm not so sure about. There are community volunteers who believe write some, but I'm not so sure. They used to be very frequent 4-5 years ago, more sporadic now. |

ps this lore associated with eve would seem to make AWESOME movie/videos/even animated, is their any video type stuff anywhere? |

Visera Yanala refused an order to fire a weapon of nigh-on planet busting magnitude at an inhabited world that just so happened to have a very large number of ethnic Caldari people living on it as well as it being the literal birthplace of their civilisation.
It's hardly as simple as 'shoot big gun kill Gallenteans'. Additionally, it would set a remarkably lethal precedent for the use of titan-based weaponry - I suspect nobody really wants Solteur-class titans such as the ones coincidentally on exercises in Algogille to start blowing up planets. |

That's rather interesting. Let me say that 1.) I thought that it was less of pure marxist/capitalist ideology thing and more of a mix between that and a ******'s rise to power kind of thing. 2.) I was rather engaged by the plot!
At any rate, if they were retconning any kind of interesting history and culture, that's a shame. I guess that I'll have to start reading about that background at some point. Any kind of starting point Chronicle wise that you'd like to give me? |

There are a couple - have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXWf-l71MY4 as one excellent example of a Caldari-oriented film. I believe that CCP also have some plans for a lot more media in the future - they've been collecting player stories recently and a lot more besides. The trailers for EVE are pretty damn good as well, and there's a lot of them. |

could you point me in the direction of more of these? i prefer the amarr/minmatar conflict but any will do, thanks

Amarr Victor
It doesn't provide any lore, but it's an epic patriotic video for fans of Amarr. Epic shots of Amarr ships to the tune of an epic movie soundtrack of some description. One of a set of four for all the races.
Also, apparently EVE Online is getting its own tv show at some point. It may or may not be linked to the stories that CCP has been collecting, but here, have this. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/movienewsandreviews/news/?a=84716 |

thank you VERY much, these videos are great, and that minmatar video (flag lll) was a thing of beauty. a metal band called "soulfly" would go hand in hand with minnies' tribal ways. being a big soulfly fan is what lead me to choose my minmatar clone (as i knew nothing of eve lore when i started dust)
i highly recommend anyone who reads this post to watch these videos. you WONT regret it
