Wondering why people care so much about dying, it's not like there's some irreversible penalty for it you just loose some isk and spawn back in. |

Because all of us don't have a ISK machine to print money with.
We have to grind out the Fits, so It quite sucks going into a battle with a STD Tie and a Militia Briefcase to get Punched in the face by our boss with Level 5 Bitchiness.
Us- Play for deaths You-INFINITE ISK, SO WHY DO I CARE? |

yea I've got the cash to run proto all the time but the odds are if I'm solo I'm running ADV.
I only run proto when I'm in a squad. mostly because I feel obligated to do well and contribute to the success of the group. being a scout is difficult. nobody wants you everybody loves logis, and heavies, assault suits are solid, but scouts? no ehp, no real speed, no equipment slots, mediocre dps all I have is that it takes a proto scanner to pick me up. on one hand it's an awful feeling to feel inadequate but on the other I strive to perfect my gun game, sure i'd prefer to shoot you in the back but it's not always an option so I get gud.
so in my case it isn't to avoid dieing, but rather to make sure that I'm valuable to the squad. |

I don't unless I'm running a Thale (Point of pride of using it on an EHP-maxed Sentinel, have yet to lose one via counter-fire), or my AV-HAV... But that is more avoiding the HAV's destruction... I give zero craps if I die if the HAV survives (which has happened, recalled then ran out running interference long enough for the recall to pull through, or jump out and fend them off while a teammate drives the HAV away).
KDR is arguably meaningless in pub matches, though I do check my KDR and WP/D ratio as a way to check how well I'm improving... Also keep a tally of how many HAVs I've lost to other HAVs and vice-versa, but again out of a way to check to see if I'm improving.
The only thing that matters is fun first, and making a profit second... |

'Cause they won't get an invite to your "elite" corp unless they have a big K and a small D.
So, yah, deaths matter. Whether you are giving them or taking them.

I enjoy funny deaths, had a few. I also lol every time my scout suit gets blown up by proto turreted rail tanks. Also if i die luring a Duvolle death squad from an objective only to have another scout hack and trap the letter while DDS is hunting me down i LOVE it. |
