Such an SP sink to get KinCats to 5, but with 2 Complex ones in your low slots, this is a different game! I enjoy my paperthin fast-"sneaking" backstabbing killmobile .... I die a lot (that's me, not the suit) but it's so much more fun now than without those KinCats :D
A shame that I can't fit 2 AND a scanner on a advanced (not medium, sorry, typo) scout suit. hate to break it to you, but speed tanking is **** since 1.4. you'd be better off hp tanking. dont get me wrong, i love my scout mk.0 that runs 10.38 m/s, but its just not as effective as before. i do better in my 11k dragonfly fit than i do in my 120k proto scout fit. as for NKs, thats a different subject entirely... |

Even in my "free" BPO fittings, I really need that 1 Complex Catalizers ... anything else feels like a snail :/ Well they aren't THAT expensive. |

Exactly this. I feel sluggish if I don't use kin cats. Of course there are situations where the speed isn't needed so I switch to my horribly slow armor tank fit but mostly I run with speed. |

Cmp KinCats aren't worth the SP for a Scout. My two cents as a former and would-be speed tanker.
Remember, a high end AR can kill you in 1/3 of a second, regardless of how fast you sprint.
There's bad information in this thread, newbro Scouts. Beware. True you can't speed tank while trying to gun people down but for other applications it works wonders. Perhaps "tanking" was poorly chosen. To clarify, stacking KinCats on a Scout ...
Works When: On recon or uplink duty (Logi better) Rushing a first letter (LAV/DS better)
Fails When: In combat or under fire Trying to evade enemy fire Trying to escape if/when detected (running away)

Assaults never adapted to the range hard caps since CCP did them a solid after a week while MD, vehicles, lasers, shotguns and heavies suffered for monts- and some are still suffering. |

I once used two complex on a heavy suit with a shotgun.
People probably **** themselves when they saw me rush in there at the same speed of an assault pounding rounds into their faces. I had people running from me as if they could try and outrun a heavy...didn't work.
I wanted to try a HMG but didn't have the sp at the time for it. Maybe I'll go back and try it now...The problem is that when you start firing you lose your speed advantage. Shotguns are better because you can sprint shoot sprint shoot...
but then again if you can just dash into your optimal as a heavy... |

Sports Turtle is all about using cover as much as possible. The speed allows you to cover open ground or dash up a hall way to the next baldhead. Pause each time you find cover to let your stamina replenish, then dash for the next cover. When you get near your opponent you judge about where they are and strafe out with your HMG levelled for that spot. Try to get a bead on them fast, and take out as much health as possible before they get their aim locked in and you start taking damage. Then duck back to cover. If they are close, repeat and try to kill them before they get their aim lined up. If they are more distant wait for your shields to start regenerating.
When up against another Heavy, the Heavy that uses cover and aims for the head wins. Starting with a Flux grenade helps too.
When up against an Assault suit with an Assault Rifle, using cover gives you a chance. If they follow you, the HMG has the advantage in applied damage at very close range (~5m). If a Heavy with an HMG goes up against an Assault suit with Assault Rifle at greater than 10m without using cover, the Assault Rifle will win every time against an HMG Sports Turtal with only 1010 HP and a head the size of a microwave. (Or at least that has been my experience.) |

Speed tanking died when Aim Assist was introduced. No matter how fast I run I still seem to get insta killed at 100 meters from a duvolle or gek. |

It's super cheap and get close in gaps quickly, running cover to cover, in a few cases I was able to get within shotty distance of heavies and ar that shooting at me, and get the kill. Wouldn't you use other blueprints (of you have them?) I think CCP clarified that only the BPOs that need a certain skill give the bonus of the skill. So if you have the .. what's it called ... not the raven ... that other Scout BPO ... then you also get your scoutbonus. The MAG tribute suits are: Valor (scout) Raven (assault) Sever (logistics) Oh they are tributes to that older game? I never played MAG. So those suitnames are derived from that game? Nice.
I didn't play it either, but I gather that they were the names of the 3 major clans. |

I got them back in my Shotty days. Now, they make the HMG/Heavy game totally different. Sprint all the way around an object and catch them in the back when they think you just went around the corner. Or they see you running on the Scanner and don't think you have the big boom stick. Good stuff. |

Speed tanking is bad. But I still run an Enhanced speed and stamina on my fit. Mainly because it helps my playstyle.
IF you are going to use speed and stamina mods on your suit, make sure you use them to stay AWAY from combat.
Use that scanner, and use the speed to take the long way around (faster). You use it to move quickly and silently. Don't expect your speed to save you when the bullets start flying. Use the speed to make so the bullets DON'T start flying.

Not clans, but the factions/PMCs you chose to fight for when starting a new character or vetting after reaching max level, loosely comparable to the races in Dust/Eve. Clans were player-made, comparable to corps here but more simple. Several MAG clans transferred over to Dust early on and have become some of the largest corps. |
