Breaking Dust
Part 2 on the series of Breaking Dust. We look at AA abuse through the use of a mouse simulator for the PS3
Dust Has a very prominent AA for controller users to help them compete with mouse users. However this is being exploited by pro players for a even greater edge.
They are using the mouse to PS3 converters like the eagleeye and others like it to gain both the use of a mouse and the AA advantage in pro matches.
Corps are planning to use this new edge in the squad tourney to assure a easy victory over their disadvantaged opponents. This tactic is newly discovered but as you can guess its impact on a match would be huge. The rounds on target you can achieve with this hybrid aiming system are astronomical, especially at close ranges and when shooting for the head.
Many of the pro corps have plans in the works to do this in secret, both from members who would disapprove and from any outside prying eyes.
This method is currently in the testing stage, but will become operational shortly. They are working out the kinks and improving the settings and should reach full effect in a very short amount of time.
That is the end of the segment on AA breaking in Dust, feel free to add your own knowledge below. |

Just to make things clearl, M/KB support is so bad, people have to do this. I stopped using M/KB months ago because I can't map my own keys, there's no raw input available and the DS3 is just better by comparison. |

And what you thing CCP can do about it ? The Eagle Eye is not new, have been around for long time.
The full "nerfing the mouse" idea was stupid specifically because devices like that, if anything, by nerfing the mouse CCP have put honest mouse users in a disadvantage. |

What is the big deal?
Whenever or where ever you have people playing across a net (versus in the same room) you will have this. Some disadvantaged players actually need this level of support to even play the game. CCP/Shanghai promised key/button remapping quite a long time ago. However, what they provided was different layouts for the controls. That was a language barrier I would suspect, however we did not get rebinding of buttons and keys.
If you require that level of support to play the game ... well. So what?
Aim Assist is a joke and it was poorly done by CCP/Shanghai. That is not a surprise either. So run AA and be quiet.
Alternate input devices should not really change the game play. If it does, the programmers should be address it. They won't. If some combination has a significant advantage I can state with assurance that gamers will find it. They are gamers and gaming systems is what they do.
Where is your other post? Was it about the horrors of lag switches? They are new as well.
If you don't already know about them. |

Realistically, CCP should give KB/M users some manner of aim assist so they can at least compete against auto-aim users. Aim assist has become way too powerful compared to KB/M being only a little advantaged before. I personally wouldn't use a trick like this, but I've also been basically removed from infantry gunplay due to how OP controllers are with aim assist. |

The more I play, the less I think it's about AA and more about inflated hit boxes. Been testing out ARs and SMGs lately and you literally never miss as long as you're firing in the general direction of your intended target. |

I would agree, if not for the following test:
I am a dedicated FPS player with years of heavy keyboard and mouse only play. Since 1.4, I have a near non-existent ability to kill things. I go 0 kills for entire matches now, and KDRs of 1/8 are common for me in this patch.
I have not played an FPS with a controller... really ever. Mostly because I'm extremely bad at it, and have never before killed something with one. Picked it up in 1.4, got two kills with ease in a short span of time.
Given how bad I am with a controller, and how generally practiced I am with a keyboard, if I'm doing better with the controller than my keyboard, there's something off with game balance. |

I'm in the same boat as you. Outside of key mapping options, everything was just about spot on in Chromosome. Whatever they did in Uprising was a huge step back and I've been so frustrated, that I just gave up M/KB for the DS3- even increased my KDR a few tenths too. But it's not just AA, screwing things up. I already mention hit boxes, but all the other fixes to compensate for aiming issues pre-1.4 like the 10% damage buff on all weapons and the ninja fixes to weapon kick/dispersion inadvertently turned this into an arcade FPS again. Even Halo has better TTK and that's with 0 character customization. It takes months to build your toon in Dust and all that adds up to an extra 0.002 seconds of survivability in a proto suit- WTF? |

They honestly need to go back and remove all the tweaks they made to make up for hit detection problems, remove the 10% damage bonus, remove the tweaks to kick and dispersion and give the AR it's short optimal again. |

We played a standard-only weapons and dropsuits PC match a few weeks ago, and I thought the TTK was actually pretty on-target for that match. They really just need to nerf the crud out of damage across the board to increase TTK.
If I can get that, I'll even tolerate my current crippled aiming compared to controller users. |

I hope you realize that this will end with a M/KB buff so that people don't have to resort to this just to be on par with DS3. |

I have no idea how it is possible for someone with years of FPS experience to go 0 kills in any single givin match, Hello Kitty Online is not an FPS game btw....
I can have bad matches like anyone else, but on average i go 30+ kills a match with my KBM setup (Razor Mouse, Razor KB, Razor Mousemat), i do die more because of AA or the hitboxes fix, but ive never gone 0 kills....i don't know how...

This is just making stuff up, really. Dust has one of the longest TTKs in the market today, Every other shooter available has gone down the tactical / cover route where 2-5 hits (or 1-2 headshot hits) = dead. |

Dust 514 Headshots aside, there's nothing tactical about modern FPS with the exception of Red Orchestra. If you want tactical, you have to go all the way back to older Tom Clancy franchises and that one military FPS made by the US Army. (Can't remember the name right now) Few maps have cover in Dust, speed, shields, and armor are your cover. |

They nerfed the mouse.. where you been ? Typical CCP; they find a problem, misinterpret the issue, nerf the wrong thing for the wrong reasons, they lose lots of players because of it, and then they scratch their head wondering what the **** just happen. |
