I was going through my skills, just saved up 800k sp to get a suit, i leave the room and my two year old son ends up with the controller and now i have level 4 mimmatar medium suits unlocked.
i was wondering on some feedback as to how i could make the mim suits work. i HATE the suits, they are weak and have almost no shielding what so ever. i currently run-
8k ISK cost
-assault m-1 suit -basic AR -basic sub MG -basic AV grenades -2 Milita Shields -Milita Light damage mod -Milita armor plating -basic nanohives
32k ISK cost
-ADV M-1 suit -gek AR -basic sub MG -ADV AV grenades -2 ADV shields -ADV light damage mod -2 ADV armour plating -ADV Nanohives
I have about 230 shields and 250 armour on my cheap setup and 252 shields and 350 armour on my more costly setup, my toon gets torn up in seconds by most AR's and HMG's. hopping helps but once my stamina is gone, I mine as well drop to my knees and say please.
ANY tips to improve my survivability would be coolbeans.

I use mine for two specific roles:
1. AV 2. Sniper
For both I go straight damage mods in the high slots, and buffer armor in the low slots; both with hives and SMG. |

You have just slightly under my Amarr Assault, however you have to remember at racial level you are getting a bonus to Side Arm Magazine Cap making the use of Flay Lock and SMG very good, especialy since the two guns are already very good now.
I mean I use the Syndicate SMG, basic SMG, and it tears through people, tack the up and coming Combat Rifle on and you have a fast firing burst mid range gun with some short range goodies, and the capacity to speed tank the hell out of your suit.
Knowing that make like All Matari do, and never run for the frontlines, its not in your racial combat MO, you need to flank, get high above your enemies, behind them, etc where you can use cooked greandes, another racial item of yours, the CR, and the SMG to finish them off. |

Yeaaaah. Minmatar assault has the lowest EHP out of everyone. You're going to need to get complex shields asap.
Here's my normal run of the mill set up pub fit for my high/low slots:
2x Complex Shield Extenders Complex Dmg Mod CPU Upgrade Armor Plates Assault SMG Assault SCR Pistol M-1 Locus Quantum Scanner
or
GEK-38 Assault SCR pistol
I do nothing but flanking maneuvers/surprise ambushes and rarely ever engage an enemy from the front because you just can't tank fire like other suits can. You really do need to make the best of the side arm bonus and engage people from <15m. Get your biotics up and you'll be pretty fast and able to close gaps quick.
Honestly I just try to out DPS guys rather than out tank them because your shields go down in a blink of an eye. I'm heavily dependent on the armor plate in my low. Thank god for the passive reps.
I play scout as well so really I run my minmatar assault with a scouts mentality that if I step out in the open I will be dead. |

I have spent the whole of my life studying war fare, this does not simply include my own methods of warfare, but those of every fighting force this cluster has, specifically the Minmatar due to the nature of our current relationship.
I cannot help you reply to your current jab, but the Amarrian militaries are by far more disciplined and better trained than the Minmatar, even should we not be so adaptable in the field. |

First, never run that standard fit again - save the 8k ISK and run a starter fit. STD assault suits with militia/STD mods are meaningless unless it's BPO (i.e. Free).
Second, never run advanced shield extenders ever again. You get LESS than 1-round of AR fire out of both of them COMBINED over standard extenders - get into complex shields ASAP. You should be running 2x comp shield 1x comp dmg on your advanced fit. 1x basic plate and CPU mod or cardiac regulator as fitting allows.
The rest of your suit looks decent. M1 grenades are a godsend and the Gek is your bread and butter. The racial bonus to sidearms is honestly a boon for playing a Special Weapons role (Swarms, Plasma, Shotgun) as the Proto Minmatar Assault is arguably the best medium frame AV platform in the game (Amarr Logi gets an honorable mention and can throw down proxy / RE as well, but it is slower and the Min Assault has more counter-infantry power with the extra rounds in the SMG).
Beyond that, learn tactics. True Adamance has good advice on the flanker role; and running dual sidearms is good for CQC maps. Good luck.

All Side arm damage mods in the high
Sprint speed mod plus armor repair, use the good stuff. It's already the fastest assault suit, with one sprint mod it's at scout suit speed.
And you won't be able to tank the suit, give up, just throw on the Side arm damage mods and go sidearm crazy. You could even go double sidearms, the flaylock and the SMG make a good combo but there are others! |

I actively scorn shield tankers as an Amarrian, so those to me are negligible, you either get Tank, Recharge, or damages or a little bit of all of them.

I run min assault.. It's highly undervalued because everyone looks at the HP. So let me tell you why, under certain play styles, it is the best suit. 1 it is the fastest assault suit. 2 you get a natural 1 HP /s armour regen. 3 it is dirty with the SMG (and other sidearms). Here's what I typically run on my ADV suit.
2 complex shield extenders 1 complex sidearm damage mod 1 basic armour 1 cpu upgrade M1 locus Core flaylock M209 assault smg (some equipment)
I play a hit and run play style, circling my squad and harassing the enemy. I'll flank and take out or distract an enemy and retreat back to my squad. The high speed and natural regen helps reduce the time between flanking attacks.
Honestly you're not going to be able to stand up with highly tanked suits in an open gun fight. So if that's what you're into.. Well... Sorry to hear about you loss in sp.
Ps the minmatar obviously have the most swag so be proud. Also I made a chat channel called "winmatar elite" you should join and squad up with some other minmatar players to get a feel of how-to roll and play the suit. |

I'm usually a shotgunner, but depending on the map/situation, I'll grudgingly run an AR. This is the Assault M/1 AR fit I use when I do:
3x complex shield extenders 2x basic armor plates GEK-38 AR GN-20 Specialist Flaylock A-45 Quantum Scanner Locus Grenades
383/322 shield/armor HP (705 HP total), costs just over 46k ISK. The general idea is to make use of the stamina/speed advantages of the suit (maxing out the Biotics skill helps) and catch enemies unaware while providing scanner intel to your squad. I like to think of it as "shotgunning at a distance". In the right situations, you can also switch out the GEK for a GLU and replace 1/2 shield mods with damage mods for some long-distance pew pew. |

I run my mini assault as a heavy scout. I buff shields/regen with the highs, and use one of the lows for a dampner and the other for either armour or stam buff/regen, depending on if I need to get somewhere or kill something. With the natural speed and armour regen of the mini assault, its actually quite survivable and works well as a flanker and for hit and run.
Just make sure you only take on heavy from behind...
Oh, and the scrambler pistol is very effective with the side arm bonus. |

Minmatar Assault is life! You can be like a scout or you can just go **** **** up. Having that sidearm bonus is definitely a help. Use half your primary clip then switch to sidearm and empty t then back to your primary for te finish. Or the other way around. Plus being fast is a good thing as well. Also running 2 different armor plates and 3 shield extenders will keep you in good shape.
3 enhanced shield extenders 1 enhanced armor plate 1 enhanced or basic reactive or ferroscale armor plate
I run those. Still fast. If you get into proto in the future you could throw a cardiac reg. probably. Idk I'd have to check the CPU/PG. I know people say Min Assaults don't have enough CPU but you have to mix and match with items.
My equip is advanced scanner, advanced burst or Tatical and Sleek Locus Grenades. Also advanced SMG. |

Heck yea Minmatar Assault is good, don't doubt it for a minute. If you know how to use it you'll definitely see it stand out in contrast to the "FOTM" suit[s] (not saying there is or isn't any).
The point of the Minmatar Assault is to hit-n-run (according to how I use it when I tend to go 20+ kills and a measly 6-7 or less deaths a game.
Keep in mind that you can't, by any stretch of the imagination, tank -- Yes, really. No tanking, your armor is **** poor and the only thing that is keeping you alive are your shields, once they pop you're done.

I have about 314 shields and I think 148 armor. Obviously I can't tank well without sacrificing the built in speed, so I use hit and run tactics to surprise enemies. I also have a similar fit with a ScR except kincats and cardiac regs and a dmg mod. Constant strafing, burst fire and overall, shooting enemies in the back seems to do the trick for me.
