But there isn't a great transition of players. A new gen comes in and you still have a significant amount of people still on the last gen. |

Do you remember when the PS3 came out? the PS2 still had some of the best titles coming out for it..
PS3 isn't going anywhere soon, this is console history since the 1980's... I'm confused where everyone has been.
Next gen console's are pretty much built with computer hardware and like a PC. The development even designed for the next generation console's are completely built for open ended development as stated by both major parties.
It would be simple to port any game hypothetically over to the PS4 under those circumstances, as the PS3 has been one of the hardest system's to develop for in console history.
CCP is renowned for multi-platforming their games, and probably one of the industry's most successful at doing so. That will be their challenge more then simple porting, and throwing an entire platform population away. Running the PS3 and PS4 simultaneously in a year will be more of a challenge then what people are arguing about and probably what they are going to attempt.
The focus right now is to build DUST into a solid game so rapid fire content releases can be smooth with little problems. Then we can worry about taking a solid game and moving it into the next generation market.
DUST went backward's at the start and the CEO has came down hard... Content and addition's to the game with core mechanic's not solid has ended poorly. It is now rebuild time, right from the guy that watches CCP's money investment and the vision of the product. the Executive Producer.
Anyone coming into this project from the "E.P." title will literally have to write down every piece of this game as it is right now, and try to make sense of the scale and balance of it all in the game. And as it can be extremely opinion based we could see the concept's we have known in DUST completely torn down and rebuilt into some big picture.
PS4 games have offered us nothing as gamers but texture packs... and no true gamer trades "pretty" for gameplay and depth and enjoy's it for long. The #1 reason Uprising caused such a mass exodus of players... Graphic's where chosen over gameplay.
Graphic whores, graphic whores everywhere

Actually the many who will do that are the younger gamers along with few adults. The majority will stick with the current gen.

I'm sorry but that Amarrian structure (I don't know what the heck it is) that is set in threes as if they are warping devices, set against a blazing, blinding sun looks damn good on the PS3. I want that as a wallpaper...
IMO, Dust 514 looks really good and the new stages shows how great Dust can look on PS3. You can see the difference between the old stages to the new how far along it has grown... |
