I'm not a teenager or even in my 20's therefore I just don't have the reflexes or will power to compete with twitchy teens. I use to play with assault rifle but I was getting killed a lot more than I was killing. In call of duty I would get shot, spawn and then be killed again before I could even figure out what part of the map I was on. That is not fun. In dust I can go up the mountains near the red zone and not have to worry about f*nnyfart69 killing me from behind. I play with a ps3 controller so it is difficult to line a shot up accurately but with the controller I can lay on my bed playing the game, with a keyboard/mouse I couldn't do that.
There is a lot of waiting around till you can see the enemy to take a shot at. In some games I get no kills or even kill assists but when I do get a kill it's very enjoyable and if the enemy spawn in a particular spot constantly you can rake up a lot of kills.
I don't have the skill or reflexes to compete in an assault class. Sniping is a way to get kills and not get killed that often thereby getting plenty of ISK. Please do not remove the ability to redzone snipe up high from any new maps as I really enjoy it espeically because it annoys bigknob69 and LOLROFL69 so much. I'm obviously not the only one who enjoys sniping so please don't listen to people saying get rid of redzone sniping as that is how I and many others enjoy this game. |

The balance is about right now make redzone sniping too easy and that would cause people to ragequit. The only change I would like to see is making sniping with a kb/m as difficult as with a controller. That way only the dedicated snipers will play. |

I must say...it is nirvana to three-shot heavies on main body mass on the field...and then head shot them when they waste all of that time driving up into the hills to track me down. Especially because after the second or third kill, I make a special trek to a new vantage point from which I can pick off the haters that are trying to find me. As my kids say "Don't be jelly braugh". If you really want to get my ire up, grab a sniper rifle and beat me at my own game......or make sure that your squad/team has it's own snipers. |

The biggest issue I have about sniping is that all of the designed sniper spots are in the red zone or require more sp to sink into dropships. If one thinks out side of the box, other spots are found even near or inside complexes. My sniper although, less than 5 million sp tends to die 2-3 times a match using these on the map spots. That is more than acceptable as I injure and kill more, often holding of major attacks, thus actually being an effective sniper. As for the red line itself, it needs to be extended to include both sides sniper mountains. It is unfair that the only way to kill these snipers is with another sniper. There should be no reward without some sort of risk. I do understand OP's issues, but even this change on average a sniper wouldn't die more than 2-4 times a match. |

I'm obviously not the only one who enjoys sniping so please don't listen to people saying get rid of redzone sniping as that is how I and many others enjoy this game. redline snipers are an annoying waste of biomaterial. Here is why. 1: You are in a position where you can not be challenged and likely are so far from the BF that the game itself probably wont even draw your figure even if someone is looking directly at you. 2: if your going an entire game with less than 10 kills your doing virtually nothing for your team because you sure are not hacking objectives or doing anything else of any use. Your just sitting in 1 spot hoping someone comes into your sights.
Honestly I hope that one day soon redline sniping becomes impossible by some means. I would be thrilled if there was a 1 minute silent counter that simply wiped out everyone that was sitting in their red zone especially tanks. To me the only thing more despicable than a redline sniper are the redline tank snipers. |

The right redline sniper can change the course of the game through efficient spotting and tactically attacking.
Whenever I redline snipe for my squad the enemy is broken by the time they ever see them (while they are sitting there waiting cause I told them he was coming). I have also become pretty proficient at affecting troop movements by waiting for them to come to certain points and firing on them forcing them to not want to go a certain direction.
As far as your argument of only mattering with 10 kills or more, I average FAR higher on my kill count as sniper than I do when running assault or heavy (level 3 on both). My personal best while sniping was 21/1 while my personal best running assault style is around 12/5 for best k/d and 18/19 for highest count.
Please do not assume all of us sitting in the redline or on top of a building is some blueberry who just picked up a rifle. There are plenty of us snipers that can change the course of battle in many circumstances by saving clones / costing them clones so that you can keep charging headlong into battle to defend the objective from the enemies we have already broken for you. |

You must agree that if you are not a problem, someone else very good at sniping can be a pain in the a**, if he can farm kills from the redline. I'm not suggesting to eliminate the redline, but you should not have a safe spot where you can also kill people, it's a little game breaking. After all you are playing a war game, being killed is part of the game. I do not want snipers in the middle of the battle, it's not their role, but there are some good spot outside the redline, they are difficult to reach and you can also see the incoming enemies, redzone should be the solution only when your team can't hold any objective. |

The problem with sniping is that generally people sitting back in the redline, in the mountains or atop the MCC are missing most of their shots. They're not helping take objectives, they're *rarely* eliminating threats, they're often of little use to the team and in general, they really aren't contributing much.
Sometimes it turns into a sniper vs sniper pissing match, but rarely will you see a sniper actually supporting the rest of their team. I'm sympathetic to your inability to do 'twitch' gameplay, but dust rarely is twitch gameplay. You can slap shield extenders and armor plates to an assault and end up with around 800 EHP and hang back with a tactical AR, scrambler rifle, or laser rifle and still contribute far more to a team effort in most matches than you ever would redline sniping. |

In domination I snipe and lately I found it better to move closer to the objective. It's easier to kill but also easier to be killed. You can see nothing from the redzone with new maps or very very little so I have moved closer. Last night on one game I got 8 kills and 0 deaths and it slowed them down.
Skirmish is too irritating to snipe they seem to have gotten rid of all the good spots. All my skill points are going into sniping so I spend AUR to experience a decent level of other roles. With a scanner and scrambler rifle I got 6kills and 10 deaths but also wp for caputring turrets etc. I got more wp than when I snipe but I have had to spend AUR as well as isk.
In Skirmish I also use frontline starter kit it costs me nothing and I get decent wp for turrets etc but I probably die about 15 times get 3 kills and a few kill assists. I don't think that contributes much to the team espeically if it's tight and we are running out of clones.
A good sniper can lock an area down and deplete a good few of the enemy clones also with a mic he/she can inform their team what direction enemies are coming from.
The dickhead on my team last night that kept standing in front of me and shooting me contributed absoulutely nothing to the team. I enjoy sniping I find it a relaxing way to unwind after work. I have spent at least Gé¼80 with this game whereas I expect little dickhead feels entitled to consume all media for free. I will play this game the way I want to play it or if idiots like that keep annoying me because they think sniping is unfair and everyone should play the way they play then I'll just stop playing.
Sometimes I want to be in the thick of the action but most times I just want to sit back and enjoy getting kills from far away. |

I have a suspicion that draw distance is affected by movement. Dev?

But some maps offer valuable redline sniping spots, where you have great overview and/or can snipe anyone capping a main objective. Redline snipers in these spots use souped up charge sniper rifles or double-tap with Kaalakiota's (not to mention the Thales), so they're a force to be reckoned with.
But countersniping them is easy, because they don't pay attention to their surroundings and it's easy to get headshots!

Not getting killed not costing the team clones.
You can run in the hills and cower for the whole match, not getting killed. But in the mean time your team has one merc less to fight with. So you're just dead weight, making it harder for your team to win.
