I use to play with assault rifle but I was getting killed a lot more than I was killing. In call of duty I would get shot, spawn and then be killed again before I could even figure out what part of the map I was on. That is not fun. In dust I can go up the mountains near the red zone and not have to worry about f*nnyfart69 killing me from behind. I play with a ps3 controller so it is difficult to line a shot up accurately but with the controller I can lay on my bed playing the game, with a keyboard/mouse I couldn't do that.
There is a lot of waiting around till you can see the enemy to take a shot at. In some games I get no kills or even kill assists but when I do get a kill it's very enjoyable and if the enemy spawn in a particular spot constantly you can rake up a lot of kills.
I don't have the skill or reflexes to compete in an assault class. Sniping is a way to get kills and not get killed that often thereby getting plenty of ISK. Please do not remove the ability to redzone snipe up high from any new maps as I really enjoy it espeically because it annoys bigknob69 and LOLROFL69 so much. I'm obviously not the only one who enjoys sniping so please don't listen to people saying get rid of redzone sniping as that is how I and many others enjoy this game.
The problem with sniping is that generally people sitting back in the redline, in the mountains or atop the MCC are missing most of their shots. They're not helping take objectives, they're *rarely* eliminating threats, they're often of little use to the team and in general, they really aren't contributing much.
Sometimes it turns into a sniper vs sniper pissing match, but rarely will you see a sniper actually supporting the rest of their team. I'm sympathetic to your inability to do 'twitch' gameplay, but dust rarely is twitch gameplay. You can slap shield extenders and armor plates to an assault and end up with around 800 EHP and hang back with a tactical AR, scrambler rifle, or laser rifle and still contribute far more to a team effort in most matches than you ever would redline sniping. |
