When you look at this question normally you think it's not a important question to ask, but in actuality it's the most important question that needs to be answered for the survival of dust 514 because if it's unanswered it can mean the end of dust 514.The thing is though, how do we answer such a open-ended question that may exist forever; the only real answer to that is we don't stop answering this question and make dust 514 the best game it can be.After a lot of thinking on the problems i feel are forcing me away from dust 514, i came up with answers of my own that answers this question; at least for now.After i post my answers please post your own answers and lets help each other make dust 514 better than it is now, you can use the following format that i'm going to use.
Problems:(listed from most important to least important) 1) [Critical] The problem...(Critical, Major, Minor is the how important you think it is) [Solution]The solution... 2) [Major] The problem... [Solution] The solution...
Problems: 1)[Critical] This game lacks a story that all rpg players want.The reason that players want this is because by immersing yourself in that games story you grow to want to stay in that game. [Solution] The new eden universe has a vast history and lore, by putting these two into the game as story you'll draw more people to the game and give players that are already here another reason to stay.The way i propose you do this is by making group pve features like raids and dungeons that involve multiple players.The raids and dungeons can be split between faction, merc, and player.A faction raid/dungeon will only be available to players with enough standing and you will unlock more as your standing goes up.Merc raids/dungeons are available for all mercs and will be unlocked after gaining a certain amount of lifetime sp.Player raids are setup in null sec by players to dust mercs for extra loot for both sides and will be unlocked when both sides have a certain amount of lifetime sp.If anyone else has any further ideas to add to this please post them.
2)[Major] At the moment there are very few ways to gain isk and this problem forces some players to other games. [Solution]Adding raids and dungeons is one way to solve this problem.
One final thing about raids and dungeons, they will not be called this because of this type of game.Instead we can name them something else like S.W.A.T.(dungeons) Contracts & Militia(raids) Contracts, by the way dungeons are 4-8 man teams and raids are 12-16 man teams.(These numbers can be risen if the devs want to rise them for whatever reasons)
As a player that played many rpgs, i can't see myself playing a game that has no story no matter how good the game may be.As for isk, it's one of the reasons that discourages me from playing this game.I'm sure there are other areas that can be fixed, but i think these are the two most important for me. |

Here are two more: 1)[Major]Lack of Music that pulls the player in like in eve online. The solution is a simple one add the music from eve or add similar music. 2)[Minor]Merc cabin fever - it's a variation on cabin fever that occurs when a merc stays in his room for so long OPEN THE DOOR, ahem please lol |

I know I already said this, but the game itself lacks a story.They can fix this by integrating the lore into the game, so we can learn about the new eden universe.The counter-argument to this is you can read the books about the lore, the problem with this is you have to go away from the game to get what you(I) want.At this point it won't be immersive when compared to how the lore can impact the game vs book form, and it's not fun for rpg fan's like me.Adding this can have benefits for eve/dust 514, with the lore in the game you'll be able to bring in more players that never considered games like this and you would give players that are already here more reason to stay.
There are several ways you can do this: 1) The marks that were left behind : In the course of history, we have been effected by our past and in the same way you can add the marks of new edens past into the new eden universe. 2)group pve that is intertwined with the lore : There are abandoned space stations, places where characters visited, areas not explored that can be used to make a dungeon that helps immerse yourself in the same while sticking close to the ways of new eden. 3)Items we can find to read : The diaries that were left behind, secret documents, and some sort of written text somewhere that stick to the lore. 4)Ways to replay the past with immersion : Space Distortions that replays the past while you fight through an area, the words that were said, the scene that was missed, and more. 5)The mysterious Jovians : The jovians past that are shrouded in mystery, who they are, how they look like, and more.(not really a way but a major interest) 6)The mystery of our officer weapons past : The history behind our officer guns and there lost owner, there past and what happened to separate them.The officer weapons themself can become major clues in a sort of mystery hunt to uncover the truth, which will give us reason to visit x place. 7)Factional missions : Factional missions that we can take after a solar system has been taken/retaken, which would relate to the faction in question.We can have an ammar purification hunt, a minmitar freedom rebel, a caldari corporate trade guard, a gallente diplomat escort mission; with many more depending on the faction.
These ways that I listed proves that it can be done without breaking the game we love and without the game having to sacrifice it's core standards.ccp please add this, after all it's a win-win for the players and you(ccp); with more players you have more money and a bigger playerbase.Also it would be nice if the cpm can forward this to ccp for me if they haven't already read this, and ty in advance if you did. |

At the moment there is not much options with our fittings when considering TTK, i'm not sure what would be the best solution for this, but they need to fix this because it's spoiling the game for new players. |

[Critical/Important]We need new game modes & higher player count for current game modes
It has been a long time since beta ended and not much has changed for the game modes we play, this needs to change and i mean starting now.If nothing is added to these areas dust 514 risk losing more of its player base, games like destiny can cause it to lose a lot; so we need to address this issue now before we lose anyone.
We need add game modes like: Arena: 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, 6 vs 6, 8 vs 8 ambush & skirmish: 24 vs 24, 36 vs 36, 60 vs 60, and eventually 100-257 vs 100-257 scan and destroy (can't find thread) other game modes that the community brainstorms or ccp brainstorms
Many of dust players came from mag and it would be a shame to lose them, that's why we need to give them what they're asking for and it's this right here.We need to have a 128 vs 128 like there was in mag and contrary to what ccp may think, we been ready for this because it's not something new and has been done by mag.
tl;dr: ccp add more game modes, increase team size from 16 up to 60, and learn from mag (128 vs 128 has been done). |
