This is total Win.
Im really enjoying the new maps. Games are starting to feel more varied in terms of maps. Even with older maps the random nature of the sockets makes every one feel different, Dust 514 is starting to take shape finally.
All we need now is, all the races with a full compliment of basic weapons, dropsuits and the three core vehicles types. And I'll happily start spending money again. |

10 year later and Unreal engine still work fairly good except CCP seems to hate having any water in a map. We get bushes and bridges but no water or slome etc. just sayin' |

I think that is due to latency issues. I already get a fair share of lag in this game and I have a 50 MBPS downstream. |

empty. Are all these planets just used warehouses? Where are the settlements? Some sort of treaty of where battles can't be fought in cities?
I get the "we are in another planet" But if those planets are not habitable to support native life, does that mean they are just all industrial? no settlements?
Think of KZ2 of the invasion of helgast. Now that was a planet that felt alive. |

Because its not a socket map. Its a classic fps map with objects cooked on to it.
Technically thats skirmish 2.0.
Skirmish 1.0 had two zones, a moving MCC and a caldari base that had to be defended. |

Its a legacy map. They gave it to us in closed beta while they were developing the socket system after they realised (I guess) that the procedural map idea wasn't working as well as they hoped. |

Mmm...Probably not. As an ex- map designer, the issue with latency is more than likely map design. Latency and low frame rates can "feel" the same. I am not sire where the America servers are located. My latency feels good and semi-snappy most of the time.
Big open areas lower your frames per second. Ever see how bushes slightly float off the ground? This is a trick to help increase fps. On the flip side, when you are in a confined small room you can turn quicker etc. because your frame rate goes up. Unreal had shimmering surfaces as seen in your barracks. So, it is most likely due to a PS3 horsepower issue. However, you are right the water's surface will lower fps. I would like to see just a few puddles.
In settings, you can lower your graphics from High to Medium that may help increase you fps. Basically, bushes don't look as nice, but you can spin slightly qucker or should be able to.

You haven't gone swimming in the hot liquid under those Caldari power thingies? You should try it some time.

CCP Logicloop and his teammates have delivered, imo, some of the best improvements to Dust recently. The new maps are fantastic, fun to play, and have extended the longevity of this game a fair bit, at least for me. It looks like this is shaping up to be another great map addition! |

They actually have very narrow invisible walkways around them a few feet above the goop. You can run around down there, but be careful! |
