lone wolf with AR is great. squad with AR is excellent.
Lone wolf with HMG is a suicide mission. Squaded with a HMG is pointless... you might as well just use an AR. With a logi your life expectancy iceases but not by much.
Basically if you do good with an HMg, you'd do way better with an AR, scrambler or Ascr, etc. On a related note. MD are meant for squads so people running MD will get tons of kills in a squad setting where as solo, they are not as effective. This is not the case with the HMG.
The only time you see the HMg work is versus scouts, and milita suits. lol ADV HMG are great versus std suits and PROTO HMG is great versus adv suits.
I normally dont see people use the burst HMg normally is just the regular one. |

indeed. Change the recoil reduction to dispersion reduction and give it a sharp shooter skill to increase range. That would make it do its job. Suppression. |

Actually I've been seeing heavies moving in threes lately or at least a group. I ran to one objective all happy and then the utter horror flushed over as I saw three Heavies smile in their dropsuit...

The current heavy/HMG is a flop is it powerful in the right situation yes.
how often in this game does the right situation play out per match? I finally got browbeat out of playing a heavy too. I love my lasers so I'm not complaining too much. It's just pretty crappy that there has never been a new heavy weapon. ever. since well into closed beta. The lack of new/interesting content forced me to use the re-specs to switch classes entirely. i have gone to the dark side. I now primarily use a medium suit and either a AR or scram. I LOVE how much faster i move now! I can actually get cover when i start taking fire its amazing! I can duck around corners i can sprint to go behind an obstacle. I was never really able to do this in the heavy suit i could try but i always just ended up dead anyway. O and i have several medium frames that cost me under 5k isk but still have good survivability and thanks to some core skills i can fill all the slots up despite the suite having low cpu and pg. I play a heavy mostly now to bust tanks with my proto FG :) |

That's because heavies need the Heavy Laser Cannon and a base HP buff, potentially at the cost to forge guns' effectiveness vs dropships. |

the very few heavies I see are either dren or milita. And they almost all wield a light weapon or forge guns.
1 out of every 20 matches I run into someone using a proto HMG and ADV or proto heavy suit. but there are so few I almost know them all by name.
What happened to all the heavies with HMGs?

heavies > assaults > assaults > logis logis > scouts scouts > heavies
Heavies 1v1 are designed to stop assaults suits. Assaults suits are better at attacking than logis. therefore 1v1 assaults should win. Logi's are close in strength to assaults and (should be) faster than assaults. so, they can keep up with scouts. scouts should be too fast for heavies to get a lock on, making scouts effective on heavies.
This is how it should be. these are slight advantages nothing prescripted, bt the slight edge should go as indicate above to the aforementioed parties. sadly...

I despise agreeing with you.
But I've set aside the HMG splatmobile and my kills per match have sharply gone on an uptick with the scrambler rifle (not the assault scram).
using an amarr assault suit simply makes it into easy mode with a couple damage mods.
I feel kinda dirty, but it works. |

It's also because CCP won't do anything to the assault rifle. In fact, they'd rather add more rifles into the game instead of giving heavies some more diversity (i.e. more suits) |
