Why not make it like the other weapons? It should have an optimal range where missiles deal max damage and beyond the optimal range the damage should decrease. Nothing new just like the other weapons. |

Technically, there's several weapons that have an optimal/max that's the same. Sniper Rifles, Flaylocks, and Forge Guns come to mind. A Swarm is already like a shotgun as well - shoot multiple projectiles with a chance of some missing.

The problem is that with sniper rifles, flaylocks and forge you have to aim, also plasma cannon but is very difficult to use, swarm launcher do not require aim or skill to be used, of course if you are good at the game you will have some tricks to use the SL better but nothing compared to the other weapons you have listed.
I'm not suggesting to nerf it to the ground (even if i like the idea) or to make it a close quarter AV weapon, it should do max damage in the first 200 meters and then it should decrease, you will lock targets like now, but if you are farther than 200 meters you will do less damage.
It's just a balance not properly a nerf. |

Yip I have as a tanker I also run proto av including swarms forges and adv plasma cannons (it gives you good insight what your up against) and swarms inhave tonsay are so simole and easy to use only an idiot couldent solo most tanks with adv level.
Swarm users instructions should read get within 400 m of tank and press win button. |

To be honest, if vehicles got better indicators as to where swarms were coming from and if swarm missiles left visible smoke trails, that'd be enough for me. Same with forge guns. Whenever I start getting pounded by AV I seek cover immediately but it's a risk as to whether or not the AV user has vision of the place I'm hiding. The safest option is to fly into the redline but then passengers who spawn in are left unable to return to the battlefield until I rep up, wasting precious members of the team.
Add bigger maps, countermeasures, the ability to shoot down swarms with dropship turrets, and there's no need to change swarms at all. |

Understand your anger, but it is a missile. Falloff happens because the kinetic energy of the object gets converted into heat by the friction of the atmosphere= less damage over greater distance Its DUST514... plasma is a bullet here A missile burns through its fuel and explodes right next to the target -sending shrapnel through. There really wouldnt be a falloff rate unless your countermeasure idea would cause premature detonation. Then if you were on the outside of the blast you could incur falloff. |

If condensed plasma is fired as a packet from a gun, its not illogical to call it a bullet.
One of three definations for a bullet is
"An object resembling a projectile in shape, action, or effect."

It's just a balance not properly a nerf.
As slow as the swarms move and as easy as they are for almost anyone to evade they are already pretty balanced. A dropship just has to start flying and swarms can't catch up, a moving LAV will lose them by passing obstacles, and a tank can just roll behind something. The only vehicles that have to fear swarms are the ones that sit stationary out in the open.
It is POSSIBLE to solo some vehicles with them, but that involves being in the right place at the right time and having no one shooting at you. Shifting the balance in favor of vehicles just means the team with the most vehicles wins. |
