lol breach FG OP? you do know that you can't move when you charge that type of FG? Agree. It feels OP when used as tower sniping...but it is only OP in pubs. Watch a PC match and Forge gunners do not top the list or kill feed. It is a huge bazooka used to contain tanks and guard letters. Very vulnerable to all infantry and tanks. The heavy suit scares no one. I doubt it will get nerfed as no one sees it spammed...which is how CCP defines OPness...which I respect.
This is my argument as well. I had a 27-0 PC against STB once, but I also took 0 damage. Most PC matches I don't do great. Good, yes, but I'm fully specced and have been FGing since the respec.
You can't judge OP by pubs. If they were truly OP there would be 10 players per game running FGs. I rarely ever see more than 2 in a game |

First, the swarm can't hit the infantry which is normal Second, the rockets got a limited fly time, unlike the FG which can shoot my drophip from the other side of the map. Third, a drophip with an active speed booster is FASTER than rockets, but not as fast as the forge gun (which is logical after all).
CCP could do things to the forge gun like : - Have the same damages as the swarm launcher at the same level as a counterpart you can have different models with less charge time, or deliver 2/3 blast (like the cyclic turret). Because for the moment one of the proto forge gun can deliver more than 3000 damages with damagers and skills. - Do something with the area effect ; why a blast of forge gun (militia) would make make my dropship become crazy to fly when a proto swarm launcher do almost nothing to my stability. - Make sure it can't hit the infantry anymore, after all we have the plasma canon to do that, and it's quite fun and MORE REWARDING.
To put it in a nutshell : Forge gun is to the weapons what the Charybdis were to vehicules a few month ago : cheated things
Sniping from the tower is a secondary effect of the drop uplink tactic. You don't want them to be destroyed ? So you reduce the chance for them to be spot by use them on a tower, and then half of the team take sniper rifle and forge gun, shoot everything and LOST the battle.
FGs are anti-material, not anti-vehicle. |

I dont give a **** about respect, this is a ******* game!!
I just wanna hawe fun in this game with my vehicles (tanks and dropships) or FG, and yeah that penalty that imobilze you while charging is usles while on the tower..
In every PC match I was there was few FG guys on the towers, and not to say in pub matches,...
Calm down little dude The real problem are the towers lol not the FG's Standard has a low rate of fire Assault makes it difficult to aim And Breach welds you to the floor All have limited ammo, a charge up, and are almost useless hitting anything on a level plane or above them... And some other stuff i cant be botherd to go over as its all been done already
THANK YOU. The method paired with the lack of enemies actually doing anything to stop it is what makes the FG seem OP. |

Pick two Counter or don't counter. Pick one. As a dropship pilot how do you propose I do that? By having half a squad on the ground hunting you down? So you think its ok for you to be able to go solo and take down dropships all by yourself while the only way for a pilot to counter isby using multiple people?
I'm a HUGE believer in the need for a Dropship HP buff. That's the problem.
And why shouldn't your infantry gun for me? I get killed in PC by snipers regularly. No one in pubs cares enough to try, yet they cry OP. When I take less than 1000 damage in a game, how is it my fault I go 22-0? |

I think everyone agrees dropships need a hp buff but lolccp we never know when or if that is going to happen. My main gripe is that you call for teamwork to take you out yet no teamwork is required to take me out. Dropships aside, I would like to see more diversity in forgeguns in terms of anti infantry versions and pure anti vehicle versions.
I agree. The issue isn't as much FGs being too good as it is DSs being pi+Ķatas. I think variation would be a good thing, but new weapons and finishing suits have priority. |

Yea, well that charge time seems like an eternity when you are getting shot at by Duvolles with Damage Mods that drop you faster than you can switch to your sidearm.
What kind of scrub FG doesnt move out of infantry range with his LAV? LOL so, I'm a scrub because I don't jump into an LAV and drive off when **** hits the fan? SMH! Just saying, who uses a forge gun for AV without an LAV. It just makes no sense.

Keri Starlight wrote:MassiveNine wrote:Keri Starlight wrote:Introducing a damage falloff mechanic for long distances would prevent people from overkilling vehicles across the whole map without penealizing too much those who actually move around to control different points of the map, instead of camping the highest tower all the time.
If you want to prevent your enemies from calling their vehicles, you have to move a little bit to the frontline and take some risks.
Best way to balance the FG without actually nerfing its effective damage output or accuracy, IMO. Why? railguns don't do that why should forges? OH well a railgun is on a tank, pish posh. They can also have 10,000ehp while I'm stuck with 1000 and hoofing it. As to the discussion about using murder taxi's with the LAV, sometimes you don't want to be a target when you're trying to target something yourself. Believe it or not stealth is a key component to forge gunning and sometimes your best positioning is on the ground. Can't tell you how many tanks I've popped from the ground hiding behind a hill and popping up once my AFG is about half charged. Tower sniping with a forge is no worse (less IMO) than redline sniping considering we still have to be within 300m of our target. Just last night I was in a PC sitting on top of a building with my forge, I went 5/5. I probably had about 20 assists but sometimes it's not always about the kills. positioning is key so why are you trying to keep up stuck on the floor? This post is directed to several posts in the thread, not just to you Keri. Why? Reason 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sktAvbnHvE4&feature=c4-overview&list=UUJe8E36GLsS5__3B3SYC0fw If you think this is fine, I'd say we have very different ideas about the meaning of these words: "Game", "Balance" and "Fun". Anyway, you cannot do this with a railgun. And tanks have a render distance of 100m max when it comes to enemy infantry. Reason 2: Run a tank (especially a Shield Tank) for a couple weeks and you will realize why. If you don't have the required skills unlocked, I can spawn a Gunnlogi for you if you cover the outgoing. (SPOILER ALERT: You will really have fun when you can't call your tank because of ONE person on the other side of the map) Side notes: -Tanks don't have 10.000 eHP, the most tanked Madrugars have 7.250 eHP and my Gunnlogi has 6400 eHP. -Tanks receive massive damages because of direct hits (2500 to shields per Ishukone FG shot), while the chance to land a direct hit on your dropsuit is very low. Also, you're not a target for Swarm Launchers and you can't be damaged by AV nades, which are the weapons that do the most damage besides Railguns and Forgeguns.
Aw. I have a hater :D |
