At 65k Aurum a pop, Omega boosters aren't cheap. If people have loads of RL money to throw around, I don't really care if they blow it on Omega Boosters.
Guys, you have to realize this about Dust: Every skill has a cap of V. And then, the differences from IV to V only range from ~2-5% on average. If people want to blow ~$400 on Omega boosters for a marginal gain over your suits/weapons/equipment, let them. That means more $$ in CCP's coffers, and that means a healthier life-span for Dust. I'll take that any day.
Besides, Dust comes down to skill and tactics. SP has diminishing returns at some point. Sure, with more SP you can cross train, but "more SP" doesn't mean "more skill." It just means you can do more. But having skills cap at V is the beauty of the skill system. I can take a ~3mil sp merc and be just about as effective as a player with much more SP that I would have, yet because my AND his skills are capped at V, there's no way for him to "greatly overpower" me. Factor in that much of Dust is about knowing your weapon/suit/class/capabilities AND using tactics to achieve victory, skill trumps SP almost every time. |

Its the fact person A plays with out boosters while person B plays with both omega and gains 9 million extra over person A for just having more money. You're playing the game for free. You have no rights. I've hit a point in my sp that I no longer need boosters. I have no issue with normal boosters but when you are able to add a extra 100% both to passive amd active, That is leaning towards a ptw system. Edit, im talking the 6 month time with both omega.
No matter what anyone buys right now, they will not be able to PTW to beat me.
So how is that leaning towards PTW? |

Hrr. I play unboosted, and I've got 11 weeks (76 days) in on my character for a total of 4.7 million SP, but I SP cap every week and I use the daily bonus. It kind of bugs me that a boosted player will get around 4 million more SP than me in that same time period.
Ah well. Free game. |

Ah well. Free game. Don't worry, 11-week-bro. Like I mentioned above, all skills are capped at V. Whether I spent $400 boosters or I spent nothing, skills stop at V regardless. More SP =/= skill.

It's sad that so many of you are surprised by this. A higher rate of SP game over time will yield...... oh gawsh.. more SP. In order to get double SP you have to pay a hefty price, and it still won't make you any better after a certain point. I say CCP has picked a great way to make money without breaking the game. |

I'm surprised no one has brought this up yet, but here's Extra Credits' ideas on Microtransactions and the F2P model. They bash an old CCP model, but herald the F2P model as the future industry standard. |

I do watch Extra Credits, but a lot of their topics are geared toward the MMORPG community - not the F2P FPS community. When it comes down to it, you can have enough SP to run a Proto suit for PC but that's it - you have no way to react if the enemy changes tactics mid-game on you. If you've invested a heavy degree of SP toward Armor Tanking and the enemy starts fielding Mass Drivers and HMGs, you better pray that someone on your team has enough SP to delve into the alternatives.
In a game of Rock/Paper/Scissors, it's essentially forcing one player to always go rock while the other can change out between the three. |
