Many mercenaries have a special tradition. Such as painting their first-to-be-deployed dropsuit with various war symbols and texts, drinking the blood of their first clone, praying to effigies and Gods before war, and so much more...
Despite me being Caldari, I do not hold to many of their virtues, since I was born from Caldari and Minmatar parents on an outer-region planet where civilians fled to to escape the faction's influence, but the system I grew up on had some minor "Sani Sabik" traditions, such as a lesser form of Blooding (I can already smell the anger off of you Amarr soldiers!). Thus, I developed a tradition to fill a small cup of blood and drinking it as pre-battle ceremony, just as a remembrance of my heritage and background.
So, what's yours? |

Since I am of full Minmatar heratige, I had gained some Tribal Tattoos. So, I usually paint a copy over my first-to-be-deployed dropsuit.
I have developed a sort of "cannibalism" approach too as means to when victory or defeat is imminent due to my life before being a mercenary as an adopted crew member of a deranged pirate gang...it always left an impression on me. I usually just run outward, helmet off, knova knives in hand, screaming bat-**** crazy.... strikes fear or laughs in opponents, usually one after the other. |

I read before a battle.
...
No, seriously. I carry around this graphic novel series I have been trying to keep up with. It is a manga about these Achurian schoolgirls who transform into pop stars when they play Mind Clash! I, eh, read it for the plot... And wonderful character development. It provides a nice little escapism before I jump from orbit to gun down legions of my fellow men. Just something about burying my nose into the crisp paper pages of "Clash Girls!" with an unfiltered cigarette really settles my nerves.
Nailing some hot chick native to whatever system I am in is a close second. After all, sex is the breakfast of champions and variety is the spice of life. |

...I could get into that! Sounds pretty much what I'd go along with. Might make me rush my painting though... Art and tattoos of Minmatar quality take time.... |

A short prayer as I tweak the last few bolts on my tank and load the Internal Nanohive.
Dear god, I hope you're watching. Listen for your flock's prayers, for I am the one they pray you'll save them from. Feel their pain as they realize their god will not intervene. See the lights go from their terrified eyes as they see the volley of missiles which sends them unto you.
Please don't judge them too harshly, they honestly believed their faith was a match for my munitions.
May it happen that one day we meet, I should hope to see you smiling upon my delivery of your flock from this imperfect world. Amen. |

I wasn't intentionally talking abut the sex, but I could see how that is enjoyable. I never really got a chance to "fool around", I usually am pretty occupied firing down ranges or arranging corporate affairs with Demel. He can't figure out the difference between a spreadsheet and a simple arithmetic operation. Must have been thrown at a brick wall on his Sani Sabik planet... |

I meditate.
I have a place of my own built close to my quarters, stylized after an Idama temple, at least from the interior. In there I just, sit. I don't move, I barely breathe and just clear my mind, sometimes for hours on end. It helps me focus once the battle begins. Sometimes, I might play some chants to listen to, or fill the room with incense. In either case I do that before and after contracts, helps me out quite a bit. |

I have this small alcove in the my cell carved out with a small marble statuette of St Anoyia, I suppose most often before battle I will pray to her with Satja, its not a big room, which suits me just fine since I cannot stand the wide open spaces of the cathedrals anymore, its quiet and peaceful. A place of thoughtfulness and solitude. I mostly begin with catechisms of protection or deliverance , though I don't pray for myself much art all these days. I tend to pray for her sake. She is only Mortal after all....
Either that or I spend my time in the Hangars working with the engineers on the units armoured vehicle pools. Getting them ready for combat, helping design more adaptable module interfaces and internal fixtures. The new Amarr designs are good, not ready yet for open warfare with such heavily armed Gallentean and Caldari templates, but they suffice for combat against Mortals. |

There's an interesting musical group I listen to based out of Old Man Star (I hear that they're not permitted in high-sec due to some rather violent stage performances). One song in particular which accounts a rather gruesome depiction of Admiral Noir ramming the 'Wandering Saint' carrier into a station.
Sort of amusing that the fire-fights I engage in are reminiscent of that little debacle. Mass confusion, bodies piling up, few struggling for oxygen (mostly from collapsed wind pipes). I dunno, just gets me going. |

Though, from my time on Caldari Prime I picked up their tradition of systematically taking apart my weapon, cleaning it and putting it back together. When your a clone it doesn't really pay to clean your weapon, at least not from a maintenance point of view. Though, it is addicting and it makes a habit out of focus.
Other than that I check out world news and listen to music. |
