So no doubt CCP has been thinking about turrets in their amazing vehicle rebalance, which is no doubt amazing due to being pushed back and will probably be pushed back further because it will be amazing, right CCP? But, if they have overlooked them, they should get on it :)
Currently we have four types of Blaster Turret, Standard, Scattered, Stabilized and Compressed with Scattered being the best to use and the Compressed being awful, and anyone using it is judged harshly and laughed at.
Here's how I believe the turrets should act.
Standard Damage: Moderate RoF: Moderate Range: Low Ammo: Moderate
Scattered Damage: Low RoF: High Range: Low Ammo: High
Stabilized Damage: Moderate (low side) RoF: Moderate Range: High Ammo: Moderate
Compressed Damage: High RoF: Low Range: Low Ammo: Moderate
Remove the higher PG/CPU costs for Stabilized, I've never seen a Stabilized Ion Cannon on the field unless it's on a trash fit, because they are impossible to fit.

I concur with Mr. Pearson's statement about the blasters. I think the Regulated Railguns should as well get rid of the ridiculous requirements. I never understood why they had it in the first place..... |

ikr? The compressed rails are only useful against vehicles, and only if you don't miss, same for accelerated missiles. Scattered blasters are kinda overall OP compared to the other blasters, but it seems like we all agree on how to fix them. |

Nothing wrong with the Blaster Turrets, the advanced ones kicks ass, yes, i just recently spec into vehicles in preparation for 1.5
If you keep moving and use the LAV as a portable turret, you can do some serious damage to almost anything. I talking about the 75,000 isk light blaster ( forgot the name ). Also because you can recall the LAV, is very cost effective too.
But it looks to me that CCP is going to end up making the turrets OP, same old story;
People use things wrongly, and CCP buff things for all the wrong reasons. |

1: overall, no nothing's wrong with them. But, there is a balance issue with the variants. If you read what we typed, you would know that.
2: Vehicle update has been delayed. 1.6 is the new goal, but it might be delayed even further.
3: You just skilled into them, yet you're telling the people who has used them for over a year that they are all fine? uh huh..... |

Maybe i just have a different idea of how a LAV should be use ... most people i see, they just rush around like maniacs trying to road kill people, making the turret pointless. I try to find a nice position where i can stop, and use the turret as a suppression tactical weapon, if things gets to hot, i run away and look for another position.
Like i said.. people use things wrongly. |

Um no please, it should have a lesser range but higher damage than normal blasters, as it is currently. The change they should make is to lessen damage to below compressed. I like the "shotgun" element to them as they are. Close and deadly. However they would be out ranged/damaged by Compressed, but not out-DPS'd.

Don't nerf their damage, no one would use a long range low damage blaster because at the greater range your aiming margin of error increases so a pray and spray long range weapon is not too viable.

As it is, the STD 20GJ Blasters all take 100 PG but the stabilized requires 125 PG, which is immense, a 25% increase which can really eat at your tank, in concern to dropships and LAVs. But really there has to be a downside to longer range and as I stated above nerfing the applicable combat stats would not work to well.
Because turrets will require ammunition in the future, turrets will be allowed the buff they need to compete with handheld weapons. As it is AR's beat 20GJ blasters hands down, 20GJ Missiles are viable but they have "Wonky" moments, and 20GJ Railguns have been creeping in the trash can since this game pretty much started.
Also note that I am more concerned on 20GJ over 80GJ because those are the turrets that are applicable to me and Condor Squad. Right now 80GJ work, but 20 GJ are lagging behind.
Also your ideas do not incorporate heat. |

Still not sure what the purpose of a high damage low rof low range turret would be. it needs to have a job. like, it has the HIGHEST dps of all blasters, but u have to be on top of the enemy to take advantage of it. TO do this, give it an obscene DPS (means every shot is going to be like 225dmg, but give it a crazy falloff. Like it only does full damage within 25m, but drops off to half damage at 50m |

Is that criteria true for Small Blasters on all vehicles (i.e. DS verses LAV)? I've very interested in which Advanced Blaster to stick on my LAV.

Scattered is still best, although some people (such as myself) for some reason like the stabilized more. |
