Prologue: The Eye of the Needle
GÇ£Whilst we stand, we fight!GÇ¥
Ultramarine Corporation Headquarters, Halle VII GÇô Federal Administration Bureau Offices
Ultas Marinis Astum. The name was decidedly Amarrian on the surface, and he laughed to himself at that. Reflecting on the past few months, he stared at the entrance to the Headquarters Building. Below the stone banner with these words emblazoned, an anthropomorphic amphibian glared menacingly with raptor wings spread and razor claws embedded possessively into the Omega symbol, a representation of the utmost limits of Time. It's sinuous fish tail wrapped firmly around the right descending bar of the Omega. Ultramarines was the simplified designation in most of the trade languages. Odd that a Matari like himself would wind up here. But, race had lost it's old meaning for most clone soldiers. Replaced by ISK and odd new appetites. Transgender clone hopping was a fad for some, booster use and synthetic augmentations the norm for all, it was practically a mandate amongst Empyreans. And he was certainly no different. Race had lost it's meaning for him as well, long ago, in the smoldering ashes of an all but forgotten life. In truth, the organization was of Khanid origin. Bastardized into High Amarr, colloquialized into a hundred different tongues and dialects. Ultramarines, originally the Second Conscript Legion of the Imperial Navy. It's evolution had begun some three hundred years in the past, during the Kingdom's succession from the Amarr Empire. Now a respected mercenary group selling it's services to the highest bidder. Recently, taking it's own first steps into the clone wars raging across the cluster. The previous High Commander, Shaka Ogadei, had passed the mantle of command on to Bulldozza Smash, a free Gallente national, on a desolate battlefield in the OICX system. Passed it in the time honored tradition of service and sacrifice. No clone, no rebirth, no second chance. 'Dozza, as he was affectionately known to his subordinates, quickly moved to restructure the corps to meet the growing demand for clone-able soldiers in New Eden, of which he was lucky enough to have the genetic predisposition. The older, non clone-able personnel were transferred into the the support branch of the corps. Training the new recruits, filling the role of weapons masters on the mobile command carriers, jetting about the cluster recruiting new members to fill out the ranks became their stock and trade. A charter of incorporation was filed with CONCORD, and the InterStellar Kredits began to flow in, satisfying even the most hardened opponents to the changes. Slowly, steadily, the Ultramarines became a first rate, modern fighting force under his leadership. Soldiers from all Empires and beyond, fighting for camaraderie, honor and profit. And most, the young Matari mused, like himself, became fiercely loyal to their loud, ofttimes boisterous commander. |

Any chance, assuming Zero has no objection, to getting his post deleted so I can maintain the continuity of the thread.. I should have reserved more spots... |

I'd recommend writing your stories on an external website and not directly on the thread itself. Makes it easier to manage that way, and if you happen to try Blogger you can keep track of various different statistics. Quite handy really.
Also liking the story so far! |

Honestly, being fan fiction, and me not having to sign up for "something else", makes this the perfect venue. I am able to re-edit my own posts ^, and anyone wishing to comment may.. They even have a like button.
Thank you for your kind comments.. |
