A deployable equipment that once deployed broadcasts a signal that appears to enemy passive scanners as scan results of enemy locations. It creates red dots and red chevrons in the enemy's scan results to trick the enemy, and make the enemy no longer able to trust their scan results. The false results generated are limited to only appearing within the radius of the device, and only the enemies within the radius will experience these false readings.
There can be some obvious variants with just tweaks to stats (like more range but less false positives, more false positives but greater intervals between broadcasts, etc) but there could also be a variant that creates false readings that look like active scanner scan results. There should also be a "decoy" variant broadcaster that makes red dots and red chevrons appear within only a 3 meter radius of the device; this is to attract enemies to one specific area as a trap. Here are some rough descriptions to illustrate what they might be like.
Regular variant profile broadcaster Range: 25m radius Max carried: 3 Broadcast interval: once every 8s Broadcast duration: 5s False positives generated: 3-4 False positives appearance location: randomly scattered throughout the 25m radius Scan result appearance: passive scan Purpose: confusion
Active scanner mimic variant profile broadcaster Range: 30m radius Max carried: 3 Broadcast interval: once every 10s Broadcast duration: 2s False positives generated: 3-4 False positives appearance location: randomly scattered throughout the 30m radius Scan result appearance: active scan Purpose: confusing squads using active scanners (may sound OP, but commutation easily beats this)
Decoy variant profile broadcaster Range: 15m radius Max carried: 3 Broadcast interval: once every 1s Broadcast duration: 5s False positives generated: 1 False positives appearance location: NOT scattered, limited to appearing only around a 3m radius of the device. Scan result appearance: passive scan Purpose: attracting enemies to a specific location for a trap
This could be useful for not only confusing the enemy, but also setting ambushes. Would add a great new layer to combat. |

I think I recall seeing decoy equipment suggestions before, and they're more relevant now considering what's become of scanning. I think it would be interesting what sort of movement they show - as stationary opponents are somewhat unusual outside of snipers, but full movement could rapidly appear obviously fake. |

I like it. Imagine setting one of those off behind enemy lines and hacking an objective. They would believe a full squad was attacking an objective, especially if you put tons of codebreakers on. a full squad walks into an objective expecting to find 5 people, but instead find nothing but an empty null cannon and a laughing scout. |

With scanning the way it it is in this build, it would be a nice counter to scanners. More things need counters. |

As someone else pointed out in another thread, people will just leave them at critical areas and then switch load outs at a supply depot.
This is why I prefer it to be something that is built into a suit not a deployable item. |

Agree. I've said it before, scanners are on the rise, and will soon need a counter

I would love to use the decoy one as a scout. Lure enemies and have them chase me into the broadcaster range, and they will see the fake red dot/chevron and think its me, but just find the broadcaster. I would then headshot them from behind. |

I would prefer a active item similar to remotes, you drop them or stick them to walls and ifyou notice a scanner hitting the area you activate it to cause the effect for some amount of sec depending on type so you are forced to remain on top of the counter, just like the scanner needs to remain on top of his scans. |

I'd rather have a scan blocker/jammer instead.
Drop it on the ground and an area is protected. |

Dust needs more gadgets. As a high-tec FPS it fits the game, and it has a lot of advantages:
- Can fit in with lore - Allow more tactical gameplay - Provides added variety
There's so much more that's possible! From the top of my head:
- a sniper tracker, that lights up the sniper once you've been shot - remote-controlled drones - remote-controlled driveable explosives - EMP, to disable electronics such as enemy modules up close (great for Minja's!) - jammers - etc! |

I like decoys, but they should be able to be defeated by an adequate scan precision much like a profile damp can defeat a scanner. |

I think an alternative here would be to have them automatically self destruct after a set time. Instead of having a 5 second pulse every 8 seconds (as the OP suggests) they could broadcast for a continuous time (perhaps 30 or 45 seconds for standard, up to a minute or 90 seconds for proto) and then burn out.
This way, someone could fake a large push long enough to make the enemy redeploy their forces, without spamming the map for the entire match.
Combining this with a hard cap of 2 or 3 of each type would prevent massive spam from a single player, even a logi fit carrying different types. |

We had something similar in ghost recon, it was a grenade generating false contacts on the minimap, definetely annoying, a pain in the ass if combined with smoke nades. |

What about a false scan grenade? It would roll around and give off a signal, even to enemies not scanning, and would light up if scanned. If you needed to create a mob, you could throw all 3, but they would need to have a limited duration (increasing as you go std to proto). |

This is a lot like the equipment from BF2142 that you could throw down as a Recon player that would look like a sniper on the overview map. That was a fun little toy to play with.
