Looking good, looking good. I have to say that this game is getting much better with each patch. |

Not really. You can only do so much in a monthly cycle and they spent some time in the beginning of the current one fixing issues from the previous. I'm liking what they have showed us so far, pretty good and important stuff, but as far as bigger changes go I'm expecting one for every two patches.
Not that I wouldn't like to be surprised. |

New weapons were pushed back to 1.6. I'm betting that's the closer content that we will have, together with vehicle changes and stuff, depend on your definition of content. If they were adding any other new content in 1.5 (weapons/suits) I believe we would have heard about it by now.
But like I said, I wouldn't mind being surprised. Like, Amarr light frames... |

lol
Don't even start with Amarr HAVs. I want them so bad.
At least I got time to finish my infantry skill tree until they are released. |

Overall you can tell that it's a good foundation to work upon, which will allow for many interesting features. That's one of the things I liked most about the way you handled the Squad Finder, the other is how it will help a lot the life of the newberries.
Iron Wolf Saber wrote: New Weapons and Vehicle balances were pushed out of 1.5 tentatively into 1.6 but there is no guarantee that is going to happen or not. 1.6 already had a lot of work thrown into it and the weapons and vehicle changes coming in may have overinflated it. While there is no limits to patch sizes CCP does like keeping the patches smaller as its less to sort though in bug hunting as well as not keeping customers in download limbo.
So unless CCP says otherwise I don't expect features of 1.6 set in stone or guaranteed to be in.
I don't expect anything to be set in stone, let alone the features of 1.6 or any other patch. Even if they said they'd try to push it into 1.6, which they did and that's what I first meant, I can understand if its not ready until then and I will not flood the forums with rage and tears if that's the case. I know they have a lot to work on and that they are trying to deliver something with quality which is impossible to do in a haste. I prefer a job well done, even if it takes a while, than something rushed and rubbish. Plus I'd rather have this kind of communication even if we have to deal together with frustration sometimes, than having no communication at all.
As for holding back on the patch because of the download limbo, I think it's worth it to download anyway! Don't hold that stuff back because of me, do it if you have too many bugs to sort through or anything but I'm fine with downloading lots of awesomeness.
Plus... "1.6 already has a lot of work thrown into it". I wonder what we might see that's worth pushing back freaking weapons and vehicles. You are making me expect a lot of things good sir, but I know better. I will wait and see it for myself when the time comes. |

What else do you have in store for core gameplay? Aiming is perfect, hit detection is on spot... There is that issue with PC framerate right? Not that I play PC or anything. Anything FW related? Can you throw us some tip?
:D
Parson Atreides wrote:CCP FoxFour wrote: Not any time in the immediate future, need core gameplay to be better first.
Need content.
Lack of new content is hard to deal with, but we have some new weapons on the horizon. It should do the trick untill all the core is right, which is more important imo. I can understand and I support the current direction of development. |

That's why I'm asking what they have in store for us as far as core go.
What is core after all? If new game modes can be labelled as core gameplay than that's awesome, but, like I said, aiming/hit detection and other similar issues seems to be working pretty reliably now. In spite of that, they just stated that they will only expand when they feel comfortable about the core stuff, so what exactly is it that they want to improve now? That's what I'm wondering. May be pretty exciting things too you know. |

Do you think that a FW revamp would count as content or core? Supposing they count it as Core than I'm happy because I'd rather have an engaging FW system, with specifics rewards, the option to pick your target district and team deploy, just to name a few things they could work upon, than getting even more weapons/suits in the next months.
Maybe they count game-modes as core too, that's why I'm asking and I'd rather have them first too. If you add too many weapons and suits at once be ready to spend some time after implementing doing balance and I believe we could still use some further work before getting there (team deployment for example), but indeed, not much. It's near now. |

The major new content blocks would be nice at this point (flesh out racial suits, weapons, vehicles) ... i can't wait to see this game in a year when all of that fleshing out is done and they can start work on things like EvE link, economics, PvE, etc. Wasted? No. Of course not. The thing is that I'm not sure if core gameplay should be a priority. Of course it is important. But is it more important than having content?
Yes. Content in a broken game could as well not be there. |

Kevall Longstride wrote: The current monthly iteration plan with CCP working on core gameplay problems is not only the correct one, it's achieved more to fix the game in 4 point builds over three months than CCP managed in nearly a year of closed and open beta. Content is nice and welcome. The kid in the sweet shop part of me is pointing and salivating for it. The seasoned gamer part of me knows that unless there is a way to get those sweets from the shelf to the counter efficiently then pointing is all I'm doing.
Yup, couldn't agree more. |
