I'm seeing right now that the 'Spartan' 20GJ Particle Accelerator is the 3rd best selling item, and the 'Talisman' Wiyrkomi Nanite Injector is the 5th. Surely that's not the case- who's buying ADV Small Failguns and AUR Proto nanite injetors?

people buy aur items to save on isk, so yes. weird things cost too much money, and get replaced with real money.

I thought same thing as OP. top sellers have been AUR madrugars, damage mods, complex shields for ages. Pretty sure it's screwy lol.

Don't expect the any marketing team to be saints, it's all lies in any company.

I wouldn't think that "best selling" is accurately portrayed here or anywhere else for the simple reason that
 A. if it was honest, it might show people the best bargains and save them AUR (lost CCP profit)
 B. If it was not honest it could direct people towards less useful micro transactions or inferior deals (more CCP profit).

Besides, who would really look at something as a best seller and go "Yeah, I should get that" as opposed to figuring out what the really want/need personally.

Its API fed so no its not lying. I would look at other reasons why they're top sellers.

And since we don't have a Dust Central Bank I doubt CCP is buying items to stabilize the market I mean why would they? We don't buy and sell gear yet.

How can anyone be sure that it's a lie? Remember that CCP has access to the metrics. We don't. The system might be seeing a trend we haven't noticed before.

If you take away boosters as a category and then only consider AUR items I don't find it hard to believe no matter what shows up in there...

I mean, they could say that and you'd never know. But point is who should really care.

It is plausible that their metric is odd, and since one person just spent 50k AUR on injectors that gets thrown to the front.

I mean, I'm not exactly concerned about it. I just thought it was weird, given that I don't remember the last time I saw a small railgun get a kill, much less an AUR small railgun. Unless that small railgun is included in an AUR dropship and the market is double-counting?

^ also its probably doing unit counts not cost counts.

well to contribute to this thread i will say that i bought around 50 AUR proto needles last week. i'm an assault with low equipment skills and was playing with a proto squad so i wanted to be nice and bought some shiny needles to stab them with, when they run out going back to advanced.

The big AUR spenders probably buy in bulk, so it only takes a handful buying the same item to send it to the top of the list.

I did some really basic exchange rate maths the other day, and was getting about 10,000isk for 1aur. So if people are buying aurum gear to save isk, they're throwing their money away.

Pick up a heavy with 1k armor at 80% of it... or gallente, caldari, minmatar logi running well over 600 armor...

Needles being a best seller with DUST being a giant explosion spam fest now however... doesn't make a lot of sense.. as there really isn't many people to pick up because they die to grenades, forge gun's and mass drivers on majority.

eVERYTHING ON THE TOP SELLER LIST IS A pROTOTYPE ITEM, BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO GRIND THE sp to get it normally. Most Prototype items aren't that much of a grind, but things like HAV usage, suites, and weapons are kind of on the ultra-high side. Its made that way to "encourage" players to use AURUM. If you're a casual players, perhaps its not that big of a stretch.

People spend over $100 on title games, they buy the harden elite GOY edition with special content disc locked and a poster blah blah blah...
So putting that into DUST isn't really that far fetched. I would probably have bought a booster a long time ago if I thought the game was worth playing or putting money into.

...yes, I had my caps lock on was to lazy to turn it off and start over.

I bought 1100 of the 7k isk 80% nanite injectors just a few days ago. There should be at least as many isk sales as AUR sales. I haven't seen an isk anything show up on that market chart.

low genius wrote:Well, considering that I fitted out a proto logi suit with proto gear/adv tanking for roughly 12.5-ó, and that was about ~250 Aur, the argument for Aurum gear is REALLY easy to make. Factor in that you get Aurum with the Merc, Vet and Elite packs, and there's plenty to go around. You get really cheap proto kit that's not an isk sink while you're waiting on your proto stuff. It's a win-win. You don't have to wait for 1.9 mil sp for your proto suit, and you get to trade pennies for gear.Awry Barux wrote:I'm seeing right now that the 'Spartan' 20GJ Particle Accelerator is the 3rd best selling item, and the 'Talisman' Wiyrkomi Nanite Injector is the 5th. I just think it's rather weird that there is no ISK top selling list, since I doubt anything gets sold more than some of the ISK items.
