A couple of clarifying questions.
What happens if you leave a match, is it counted, or is it just dropped?
What happens if you enter a match for a second faction and then leave before it ends. Are you ok or did you just make yourself invalid for any rewards? Really curious on this one since i noobed up the contract selector and got put into a caldari game by accident.
What happens if you fight and win / lose matches for two factions. Can people achieve the rewards for two factions?
Overall interesting event. I like the factional warfare theme on this one. It got me doing FW, something I don't usually partake in. I also like the emphasis on win / loss, something that is perhaps not strongly emphasized enough right now. I just hope you guys are working on a web tracker so we can monitor event progress and avoid much of the uncertainty involved right now.
As a final suggestion, you might want to consider a tier 0 reward. If people play X factional warfare matches (like 5-10) then they get something, not as nice as the higher tier rewards, but something small that essentially everyone can get just for participating. That way even if they can't meet the win / lose conditions, or if they don't have time for a full 20 - 40 matches, they can still feel like they participated and got something out of it. |

Ok, some event feedback, and i'm going to preface this by saying i went minmatar, so you can all guess just how well that went...
Overall It was a nice change to hop into FW. Knowing our actions were impacting EVE was a good feeling. I was not really prepared for the wall of proto gear/players I ran into however. Matches ranged from good to frustrating as hell.
I found very quickly that a string of losses can cause you to lose interest in the event, seeing the rapidly growing hole you have to dig out of to reach any of the tier win/loss ratios. There was also significant frustration in some of the matchmaking. Getting into several games in the last ~5 minutes (losses) and one where i went from quarters > loading > quarters only to get a loss made me feel that I had little to no control over the outcome of the event.
I would suggest you tweak the event to be not tied to win/loss and something more like:
Tier 1 - Play 20 FW matches Tier 2 - Play 40 FW matches Tier 3 - Win 15 FW matches
This does several positive things. First it encourages people to just hop in and try it, knowing that even if you have a bad streak you can still complete the event. Second, its far easier to track, and since we're doing the tracking by hand thats important. Third, you can still get something even if you lose every match. As it stands now, if you can't hit the win percents you walk away with a bunch of effort spent and nothing to show for it, not a great feeling.
I at first thought the emphasis on winning (Win / loss ratio for prizes) was a good thing, but between matchmaking issues, awoxers, and people protostomping it made me wish for some of the previous events that had personal objectives. |
