Please bring back some sort of waiting period in the warbarge before game launch.
Why do I ask this?
Because it gives teams with unsquaded players a chance to squad up and organize. Games since drunk Scotty have become grossly uneven. Especially when squads run against coordinated hordes. It makes the game boring or frustrating depending on if you're the slaughtering team, or the slaughtered cannon fodder.
The new maps are too easy strategically... On these maps once 1 team captures A in these closed in rooms. The game is effectively over.
Next suggestion...
Trading system and corp asset banks...
If the game is touted as an MMO/FPG, a trading system would be nice to maybe send items to players in the mail.
It would also be nice for players to donate unused gear to their corp for others to use.
Next suggestion..
A new game mode called "Capture The Flag" would be a hit, a success... Have some new maps with two bunker/castle type fortresses on each side of the map. Have the inside of the complexes only accessible on foot. Have the middle of the map have trenches, bridges, obstacles... Vehicles would be allowed to carry the stolen flag outside of the complexes... Maybe the 1st team to 10 flag captures wins? |

+1 to bringing back the war barge time.
Trading is supposed to be in the works.
+1 to capture the flag but it will need a dust twist for it to actually make sense (because a group of money-grubbing mercenaries are not going to gather around for a good old game of capture the flag)
Will probably need to be more like Team Fortress 2's CTF where you need to steal secret data. So how about the mercs need to hack* a computer in the enemy base** and the hacker gets data downloaded to his suit that must be taken back to the forward base for transmission to the employer? As usual for CTF, the data will come with a virus that causes the hacker to intermittently radiate his position across the tacnet (similar to how a scanned person is now but different color). No CRUs so uplinks will be incredibly useful.
*Multiple hackers speed up the hack like usual but only the first hacker gets the data **Enemy permanent spawn points must be just outside the base so enemies can't spawn and immediately kill any hackers. e.g. defender spawn ---- base ------------------------------------------- base + attacker spawn |

i agree some type of twist would be very good to draw in players.. and with dust the unique squad dynamics mean there's all kinds of interesting new strategic possibilities if we're talking about a two flag scenario where there CRUs would be scarce if not only on the far reaches of the field far from the two flags. new vehicle warfare would emerge; some kind of white-knuckle balls out racing-club would be born, maybe breathing some much needed life back into the vehicular dynamic in this game (the major appeal of the game in my opinion)

i like TF2 very much and think that they had a very successful concept from strategy to gameplay with only 1 person being able to retrieve it at a time however because many low level mercs in this game are wussies i think it would be vital that his current location be constantly fed to the opposition in order to prevent anybody from taking it and hiding for the entire match..
Krom Ganesh wrote:*Multiple hackers speed up the hack like usual but only the first hacker gets the data **Enemy permanent spawn points must be just outside the base so enemies can't spawn and immediately kill any hackers.
good points but i'd also like to add to this that if it for whatever reason capture the flag were to be a single flag scenario more like domination where the null cannons where at the teams' home bases while the objective would feed out ammunition for the controlling sides null cannon that must then be carried from the objective back to the teams home base and if the carrier were to die or drop it it would automatically be destroyed in order to make sure no "flags" where ever stuck in an impossible to retrieve locations by mistake.
but what's most important to me is not the details of what the maps would look like or how many flags there are but rather that we are able to play new modes like capture the flag or onslaught or bomb defusing or contract types that include more diverse gameplay to individual players outside of squad gameplay |

It shouldn't be immediately destroyed. The attacking team should have a chance to revive the data carrier before the data copy is lost. Just make it so that it isn't destroyed until the revive timer ends. |

One of the CTF variants for DUST I heard was to have the "flag" be a HAV (possibly crippled so it can't shoot and moves slower). The team needs to get a tank driver into it and escort it back to their side before the enemy can blow it up, forcing it to respawn in the center of the map again. This would reward players with lots of SP in tanking, but also encourage cooperative gameplay with remote repairs, and AV etc. maybe it's the first team to recover 2 vehicles without exhausting all of their clones wins. |

If your team is using remote reps, and your infantry is killing enemy AV, then it should be very possible. This would require teamwork on a level not seen before in the game. I think it would be a hell of a lot of fun. |

if you're scared of AV then you need better support for your vehicles not better vehicles, one of my pet peeves is mercs depending on single passenger vehicles to be the ones who take the most risk and do the most work, moving the fastest and making the biggest impact, they need not be any more powerful or "balanced".
i only wish more mercs put time and effort into coordinating their vehicular tactics not hiding behind the big pieces of metal many mercs see them as. in my opinion that's the most important aspect of CTF in this scenario.
also just like to add that i've heard rumors of vehicles having finite ammunition...
a neccisary adjustment that i believe should've happened a long time ago.. but as long as it happens eventually i don't see any serious issues with vehicles anymore even when theorizing new game types like this
i'd also like to see aquatic battles :D
everybody loves a friendly game of battle ship!!!!
(maybe the addition of submarines would eventually make this a plausible game type) |

Absolutely for CTF!
And I'd like a brief War Barge period for objective based games.
They rest of your post is either already on it's way (WP for destroying equipment) or I disagree with.
Some advice: try to narrow down exactly what you're asking for in a post. |

Yea it doesn't have to be called capture the flag or even play exactly like it, but we just like the idea for the game mode.
The game mode could consist of a map with two similar bases or fortresses each end of the map for the teams to spawn at initially. Then there could be a facility in the middle of the map somewhere and the objective is to get a team mate into the facility to retrieve some data drives. (Data sticks, Data case, what ever you want this to be) The person who hacks and steals the data out would then obviously show up to everyone and there we have it. Capture the flag type game mode but more fitting for Dust.
Capture the Information / Capture the Datamass. Something like that.
(It could even be a special weapons facility and the team that steals the data and wins the match could provide resources for their corporation so that using the resources gathered, said corporation could build special weapons or something for its mercs. That's just more ideas, the game mode can be without this.) |

Man there are so many game modes they could add.
Capture the flag would draw lots of attention, it's the staple of any good FPS.
Another good one would be like domination. Where you capture and hold patches for a bit, but after a certain time has elapsed the objective moves. (Forget what this game mode is called)
Maybe even some good old bomb the objective.
Or even an objective based gameplay. Where we have certain objectives that need captured, destroyed, ect. One side is the attacker, trying to capture and destroy. The other the defender, defending their objectives. Maybe implement much longer spawn times as well. (Think old Americas Army)

A 'rush' based game mode similar to how it is in Battlefield? (I would love that and it doesn't have to be a direct copy of Rush game mode, but something like that with a clear attacker and defender, with multiple areas / battle lines that must be crossed to advance.) |

The only way I would supprt having a virus broadcast the position of where the "carrier" is, is if no orbitals were allowed to be thrown at the one carrying it, or if it could be spread across the team to say two other people, so that the enemy would at least have to guess which person to orbital strike. Otherwise I see in the future of this mod proto players holding the fort and sniping people to death while throwing orbitals down to anyone clever enough to beat their defenses. All they would have to do is to cap the flag 3-5 times make sure to always have a lead by two then just go about slaughtering people as if it was a domination match or an ambush match.
How would people even be able to hold the fort, if they are a new player team going up against a more seasoned team, would their be internal defenses built into the base or would it rely upon people to make their own setups with uplinks, ammo hives, remote explosives, scanners, etc? |

No orbitals would be nice.
It wouldn't constantly give away your location.
Either: Every few seconds, your location at the time will be broadcasted but the broadcasted location would be static so it would essentially only show where you've been. OR Every so often, you will appear on the enemy's tacnet for a few seconds. For example, every 10 seconds, I would appear for 3 seconds on the enemy's tacnet.
If you have line of sight on the carrier, they would appear as if permanently scanned so you could tell who the carrier is though.
I assume the bases would come with some turrets for defense but other than that, it is up to the players to create their own defense points.

Instead of Capture the Flag what about Titan Mode from BF2142, what you do is that their are 2 MCCs in the Air, 1 you defend & 1 you attack. Now unlike Skirmish mode, instead of capturing Null Cannons to Destroy the MCC, what about we landed on the ship & destroy it from the inside, just a thought. What do you think? |

MCCs seem too small. How about Warbarges? Have two War Barges in the atmosphere of a Gas Giants w/ rings. With reduced gravity, we could jump from ice, rock, and debris to the other ship, board and attempt to destroy it.

Capture the Flag would be extremely interesting, since it would differentiate even more between offensive and defensive battle roles and strategies.
However, I'm worried about vehicles being allowed to carry the flag. It might turn the game into "Vehicles vs AV", as no one would ever consider carrying the Flag without a vehicle (cough cough Maddy with nitrous cough cough).

I approve of the data hack type of game mode to add some diversity. Have it be 2 based of some sort with outposts in the middle of the map for forward spawns or for cutting off enemies with the data or for defending your guys with the data. Installations would be abundant but not over done in the main bases and outposts would only have a few. I agree it would really get the support role in dust some love because logis with uplinks and such would be needed more heavily and scouts for sneaking into their base and getting the data. Vehicle specialists would get some love because they would be needed to get the man with the data out of there fast and to get him to an outpost or the main base fast. I beleive adding this type of game mode would really help dust out.

how about just add a third team to the mix so 16vs16vs16 would make it much more interesting or 6v6v6 that would be a better use rather than bringing a ctf based game mode in beceause a proto scout with 11mps sprinting speed or what ever rediculass speed the good scouts get to would just own the game due to share speed u wouldnt see one of the fattys out there B linning for the mcc lol |
