I'd like to suggest the swarm pistol, as crazy as it may sound to some of you. But hear me out and read along if you're interested.
Currently we have no effective long-ranged sidearms. Scrambler rifle, laser rifle, assault rifle (especially tactical assault rifle), and all other medium-long range weapon users would benefit with a sidearm like this. So many times are you in a long ranged firefight with a sidearm unable to aid you. You're left with your primary weapon, if you have to reload then good luck winning that fight.
This is where the Swarm Pistol comes into play.
Imagine yourself back into that scenario, you're using your scrambler rifle against another scrambler rifle. You find yourself in need of a reload, while your opponent is still constantly firing at you. You pull out your Swarm pistol, take a good aim, fire, and run to cover. You've won your fight.
Now let's discuss this weapon.
The Swarm Pistol is an ANTI-INFANTRY (does NOT have any vehicle damage bonuses) dumb-fire missile launcher side-arm. Effective at long range, but not at close quarter combat. This gun has a certain 'lock procedure', as explained below.
Upon being fired, the swarm missile will NOT be able to 'lock on' targets UNLESS traveled 20 meters.
Once traveled the set amount of meters, the swarm missile will 'lock on' a single combatant ONLY if the missile is within 10 meters. If a swarm missile is locked on you, it'll begin it's spirally path towards you. When you are locked, the swarm missile increases in speed.
Once 'locked on' the target, if the missile is within 3 meters, the missile will automatically 'un-lock'. Giving yourself the ability to effectively dodge the missile if so possible for you (advantage of being a scout). If you successfully evade the missile, it'll continue it's volatile path forward. If another player is within range, the process is repeated.
Let's take a look at it's stats and how it compares to other sidearms. I also added the swarm launcher to the comparison.

The accuracy rating is volatile. It has a spirally path and does not go in a straight line. |

Long ranged SIDEARM? No. Why? Because sidearms aren't long ranged. Explaining your answer would be helpful. Did you read about it's 'homing capabilities'? If so, how would this effect you? This and a flaylock are different. Both shoot/involve missiles/rockets yes. So does an RPG and an ICBM. Both quite different yes? I'd consider looking at the link I provided, it may help you out.
Yes, sidearms aren't long ranged. This is why I'm proposing a long ranged sidearm. So it can have an edge over other sidearms. If you're implying that sidearms are incapable of firing from long distances, then I'd have to disagree. |
