Look at these population charts, and look at the rapid decline of players in just the last week.
CCP, I have got to say, you could have stopped this if you had a meaningful event to keep us preoccupied (hell, just make up some new dropsuits by lazily switching one color on the color palette like you always do).
Instead, you not only hand us a terribly-planned event with no incentive, but you delayed the most crucial components of 1.5.
You could have easily diverted this situation, but now with the lack of people in Dust 514 logging on (which is 90% of the reason why I play this game while we wait for new content together), I have nothing to come back to Dust 514 for; I'm not even close to being the only one.
People will come here in waves, of course to diffuse the situation, but you will always have your "white knights" that stay patiently for the game by your side and will argue anything (such as the low-witted-construction of an argument "It's a free game" or "EVE Online took 10 years!"), but the thing is, this game needed 1.5 or at the minimum, an event that can captivate people's interests while your gaming competition takes them away.
May I remind you that your main competition(s) is about a month away?
You picked a terrible time to delay a majority of your promises.
*end rant*

Since CCP can finance their own game they dont care, but its funny that so many people are paying over 50 dollars for a game that takes about 2 to 3 years to become AAA material or have enough content to be considered one. I think Dust 514 could be considered the worlds longest pre-order. |

A member of the forums (i forgot his or her name) has objectively discussed this in a thorough manner just recently. Numbers often swell and lessen. It is the nature of such things. He/She even showed a chart that shows Planetside 2 numbers are dwindling. Even MWO is feeling the affects as their forums discuss such matters.
I would take it as a grain of salt for now... |

GTA V just came out, a high profile release game.
This -always- happens with MMOs etc when a big profile game comes out, even one that doesn't directly compete with it, simply because many players will take a break to play the new hot item. Once GTA V comes to the PC, I'll be picking it up and playing a few weeks, but GTA has never been a game that held my interest more than a week or two. |

I would have to agree.
The problem I see with this game, is not that crucial content was delayed (since CCP does that ALL the time), it's the fact that they picked the worst time to do it. Between now and 1.6 (when the game is supposed to be less s**t [we will see about that]), both CoD and BF4 will be coming out; if a game such as GTA V is making this sort of damage on the game (when it's not even close to the same fps elements/large battlefield), then I think Xbox One/PS4 with Battlefield 4/Call Of Duty: Ghosts will be the final nail in the coffin.
Again, CCP just picked a bad time, cause those games are going to have a clearer and more defined perspective of what a shooter really is.
P.S.: I don't think many people will be able to use their PSN for both PS3 and PS4 simultaneously, and I hardly doubt they will care to jump back on the PS3 for a game that will still take past Christmas to revive. The player count will only continue to dwindle unless CCP does something fast, and very soon (October is their "red zone"). |

Yes, but remember every subsequent release that comes after GTA V in the next couple months that people will probably pick up. Chances are, when people come back to check on this game, and see very little progress done in the span of a couple months... Things won't look too good for the server count.
As an EVE Online player, I am highly skeptical of this game, but I try to leave bias out when having a legitimate argument (even though most of me wants CCP to pull the plug on this catastrophe so that they can put it to EVE Online instead). |
