Let me give an example.
Lets say there was an FPS game. It had 1 gun. It had one room. That room was a white room. It was a medium sized room. No cover. 1V1 only.
but the game ran at 200 FPS. The aiming mechanics are perfect. All the core mechanics are perfect.
Does that game sound fun for more than 15 minutes? Not to me.
Dust needs some new content in order for the game to not be stale. In order to appeal to a wider audience of players over the next 3 updates after 1.5 i request to see.
All racial suits
3 new guns (one heavy one light and one sidearm)
2 new maps
the two remaining racial tanks. (and variants of the tanks if possible.
2 new pieces of equipment.
Don't get me wrong. a good core is good. But adding a few new content items an update would be amazing.

I agree but as long as the road gets paved faster then the adding of new content then i'm happy. But we still need to keep building that dirt road.
The meaning of that is the dirt road is the new content and the paved parts signify content that has been balanced and clean of bugs.
With the release of new games and the facts that a lot of people are hitting the end of their chosen role people are getting bored of it. We need something to play with and sink are SP into |

So how long will you wait , balance could go along with adding content. To get it perfect in all aspects we will never reach the goal. |

More content and all you think about is some new suits and weapons as well as maps, which barely change anything? This wouldn't change much. What Dust really needs is more gameplay modes. And finally some PvE to get some new players as well as keeping the old ones who grew tired of fighting the same PvP matches over and over again.
Also "request" is kind of a hard work, if you consider that they have to develop all these things. They're working on it. But they already said the new infantry weapons aren't ready for 1.5. The thing is: Dust needs more content. Yes. But the situation is as it is. We won't suddenly get all the content with one patch. You have to bear with the game like it is a little bit longer. |

Just so we are clear, this game is relased and you would expect that it has some basic content in place, totally agree that this game need PVE. |

Lets imagine a game filled with content, but nothing works!! It all looks pretty, you've got loads of options, but the guns fire blanks, the grenades are duds, and everyone has tonnes of sukts with bonuses that dont work!!
I dunno about you, but the box sounds more fun to me!!

I know, Im just saying though, the core is always more important. Since 1.1 we havn't had much true, but they are gearing up now, new maps is expected in .7 .9 respectively, guns in .5 its coming, trust me!

Basic Content? Check. We got that. Actually. Before I started playing Dust I didn't even expect more. I didn't even know that they were planning to add PvE at some point. So I thought the Battlefield type of gameplay is all we would get. I only was disappointed about the connection with Eve being barely there. |

What is suprising to me is that Dust has no activity on the test server. How can they ever integrate with EVE if there is no Dust on the test server? How can anything be tested without crashing either game if they never do a dust test server? I would think the first step in integration would be this test server.
my dream is to be able to fund my dropship habit by EVE to DUST isk transfer. that would compel me to actually play EVE again, as i hate grinding isk in dust. i would even be fine with a tax on the transfer. a simple transfer system would be a huge step, but simple is probably not the right word to use here. |

The biggest problem with the current approach is that even if they work on the core until it is absolutely flawless, there is nothing special about the game that will keep people interested or even gain new players. The new maps in 1.4 were a great addition and new weapons/vehicle changes will help but we need more than just new ways to do the same old thing. New creative game modes and actual integration with Eve are absolutely key but we've been told that PVE has been put on long term hold and there's basically nothing happening with the Eve-Dust link because they want the games to be able to "stand alone".
STAND ALONE!? Are you kidding me? The whole reason a large number of people took up this game in the first place was because of the Eve-Dust link - now you want it to be inconsequential and unnecessary? All we'll be getting for the foreseeable future is OBs in PC and PI bonuses (oh and an impact on FW that is almost impossible to notice). But then you still get warbage OBs without Eve support in PC and has anyone ever made use of the PI bonuses?
Even once the core is perfect, what makes this game any different from any other run-of-the-mill lobby shooter? We all came here because of the awesome vision that we've had bigged up for the last few years but every announcement of future content just waters that vision down or stretches it out far far into the distance. |

+1 and ^this^ is why im down to 3-4 games a wk (tops) for the last few months. jebus, I've been here for prob damn near 2 years and I'm barely at 9.5 M sp ( I despise grinding lol) because as it is there's nothing new that they're doing here. I love what this game COULD be that's why I still log in w/ my flippers crossed in hopes something happens. |
