It's nice that they made alot, great job for Rockstar... it might even cover the exorbitantly insane cost of making a 'AAA' title... but the first day's gross means nothing. I guarantee you that in a month, over half of these copies will be sitting on GameStop shelves everywhere once everyone finishes the campaign and grows bored of finding new ways to mangle old ladies. Unless the DLC is truly stellar, people won't stick around on a static sandbox game for too long before the next big thing picks them up and forces them to trade it in for instore credit. |

Don't forget about it's online portion, which releases October 1st I believe. I don't know much about what the online will have, but I did catch something about customizable matches that players can create (not sure if it will have any map editing capability though, but there is editing features to it).
It's online portion, and whether or not it will be any good, will determine how fast people lose interest. |

Well fuckn said. I don't like GTA, but Rockstar is THE best developer in the market. They don't mind to make the formula of "launch sequels every year to make a living". They know how to make really great games (i'm still playing Red Dead Redemption, awesome masterpiece).
I hope Rockstar continue the Manhunt franxhise, that game is another brutal masterpiece. |

Do you think they care? They have already made their money by that time. First days gross means everything. It is an indication of whether or not the game will make a profit. In the case of GTA it is expected to gross a billion. The game did not cost a billion to make. Rockstar made their money and that is what matters.

Funny:
GTA comes out every few years, has massive content; the playerbase stays patient over the years and goes crazy when it hits the shelves.
DUST has years to be completed, gets large updates every few months, has massive content; the playerbase wants everything last week to their exact specifications. |

I got bored of this game after the first week, let alone a month. This game is all around too easy and very little complex.
GTA V is pretty damn fun, and it's a game I will probably never sell, just cause the story and gameplay elements are AMAZING (hell, you can own business and trade stocks, and influence stock index by events and numerous other things, and don't get me started on the beautiful integration of 3 main characters).
I'm not going to abandon Dust 514 altogether though; I can still AFK and keep up with everyone in SP until this game gets good, and by that time, I will have so much ISK (from not dying) that I can proto into anything CCP finally releases in 2019. |

With all due respect, you're a dumb ass.
I likes GTA1 2 and 4. I played them because I liked them, not because everyone else plays them. I'M NOT AN IPHONE USER!!!!!
I bought a copy of GTA5 and I must say I love it. It is stunningly beautiful in regards to graphs. In fact, it's second to none. It makes a change from - there's a gray road, and there's a gray dropsuit, and there's a gray building, and there's a gray tank, and there's a gray turrent, and there's a gray bit of floor, and there's a gray bit of sky.
I am saving my SP and anticipate that I will be for sometime until something changes in this game.
Also, hmg heavies need some love.... just saying. |

Development was about 170 million
Advertising about 200 million ballpark spent so far, unknown how much the budget really is, it's probably safe to say 250 million since all the banners and commercials are already made its just now paying the hosting services.
Then there is fees, taxes, and manufacturing and shipping costs. |

My goodness. It's insane how far gaming has come, especially when a games development alone costs 170 million
It does show, that's for sure. But ****, that's a LOT of money for a single game to be created.
Would really like to know how much has been put into Dust at this point, unlikely it's anywhere near 170 million, but still curious.

Don't worry even rockstar thought they were getting trolled :-D shows what a clear goal, effective leadership and paying attention to feedback gives you. Sounds like the development had a few bumps but was delt in a very business like and mutre way. |
