What is the direction of this game? I mean seriously, does anyone have any idea?
2 years after playing skirmish 1.0 why don't we have an official road map? It's ok if things get pushed back or canceled. But It feels like the game has no direction. The reason we don't have racial drop suits seems be more that the teams aren't focusing as there are no dead lines!
I don't want to believe that CCP is developing dust without an internal roadmap... Why don't we have an estimate on when we are going to see all racial content? Like just a simple roadmap since we know most of the art is supposedly done...
The point is right now each patch feels random and direction is being changed monthly... And maybe that's just the impressive I'm getting but hope it's not... I hope CCP has it's only internal road map and isn't just randomly changing direction...
I'm sorry someone help restore my faith. |

To be honest, what I think CCP are doing is trying to balance the game as best they can ( amongst all the QQ out there) Onve it is balanced and working the way it should then they can expand.
This will avoid the respec calls every five minutes every time some new gear comes out that is OP or UP.
Strange how people expect so much from a F2P game when it has to try and keep as many people as possible happy and try and make money as well. The more money it makes the more it can do.
So a balanced and working game with few items ( more coming later) will keep people here and will to spend. But a huge game with huge variety but that doesnt work. Well more would leave.
Also the coding takes time and effort. It is easy to say change this and change that but at the end of the day one small change here might disallign many other things that will need to be changed as well.
So Hats off to CCP so far.
Would I like to see some more things. Of course I would. But they know what they are doing.
EvE wasnt built in a day and I dont expect Dust to be either.
I am willing to wait. It may pay off it may not. Who knows. Only time will tell.
Until then I will be as supportive of CCP as I can.
Cause at the end of the day this is still F2P.
And better than GTA 6 or 5 or what ever. |

What IWS said. The core is being worked on and it can be a meticulous process. Of course they got a roadmap but it can't be realized without the core mechanics of the game needing some work done to it |

That's not a roadmap. What does fi the core mean we've been fixing the core for a year and a half of no progress. I mean the game needs all the suits or at least place holders ASAP. Whats in the world you can't balance the game without all the content where is tat on the roadmap? It's all wasted time and effort fixing the core when half of the content is missing. For instance what in the world is up with all the different ARs? I get they are placehodlers but why not guve them different skills then? Make them all gallente skills but have one for each. Then later replace them with the rcaial name and art.
isn't that simple?
Same with havey suits and such I'm sorry but this game doesn't seem to have a real 6month 1 year plan laid out it feels very... fuild... And the goals of a patch change so fast. I understand I'e been here the whole time. At the start there was a patch where people said, CCp, this isn't a good fps, it's intresting, but it needs a lot of work. And they have put a lot of work into it.
But it missing some really basica stuff and I feel it's due to lack of direction or vision of the game. Whats coming up? What can we expect in 6 months? 1 year?
Just something so we can know CCP will follow a plan. Or something.
I really hope this game isn't going to go nowhere when it could be so much. rebalancing the same things over and over again without even consider the future effect of all skills, *training times* all weapons *balance between races, making lasers the only ammo less weapons, ect* All dropsuits *give us a place to put skill points into the Ammar Heavy Thukker Suit. And the Caldari model.
We don't need all weapons I suppose... But slipting up the ARs wud be a nice start. Also adding one more grenade and then makng them all racial as well. Also the fact they still having fixed the issue where they can't give suits different bonuses. Why are we overbalancing tanks? Why add the AA tank? what is it shooting down? what was the scout LAV? Why not a new Minatar LAV the same model for now. So confused. |

Don't be so ignorant. Of course what he said isn't a roadmap. The core is constantly being worked on. And yes there is much progress.
Have you been honestly keeping up with the scoreboard?
Or are you just ranting to be ranting?
I'll go with the latter....
The game never had a 1 year plan. It has a 10 year plan...stop crying so hard...

Sorry to question this, but it's been two years now. I mean, two freaking years since the closed beta, they still do "core fixing"? This game was released a half a year ago and they are still "fixing the core"? I'm sorry if I don't understand something here, but what is it that I don't understand?
And I swear to god, don't ******* answer me with "be course it's free". CCP got a leap of faith from us, and some money, but now it feels like the are toying and they abuse our belief and credit that we gave them.
Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm alone with this mindset? |

So the balancing of weapons and suits that are available wasnt doing any thing?
New maps
Game mechanics
balancing of matchmaking.
Visual updates.
remember that they are also woring on expanding this as an MMO not just a FPS.
And the team working behind everything is a lot smaller than most big companies throw at a project.
But you have your opinion and Im sure that no matter what anyone else says it will not change.
Good for you for having one though.

Are you kidding? Why wouldn't you want the core of the game to be worked on first? See that's the point I would argue the core of the game is being ignored. I'm not just whing I'm serious. Did you see the CPM post about placeholder suits? It had more posts than anything on the forum. So we agree, the core needs to be in place. It's being ignored. The problem is what you and me agree on being the core of this game.

Without us, CCP had nothing. And I literally mean nothing! And with US I mean the people how are here right now. We, how believed in this game (and there are still some how do it of course), we who see the potential. This game was ripped apart from the Media, but we are here. This game has little to offer and a slow progress, but we are still here hopping for more to come. And if you are looking at this game from a objective perspective you will see how little it has to offer and how little it has developed since the very first announcement . And I feel a little betrayed here. I was the one how believed in this and I was the one how was helping as much as I can. I was the one spreading the word and if I look back the past two years, I see that it was not worth it. Still at this state, the game should have never ever bean released! But it is, and we are here, looking how CCP is still trying to "fixing the core" since two and a half years.
But it is like I said, may be I'm the only one who feels that this company has letting me down. |

yes that's my point real effective different in balance between weapons has been minimal at best and without the core of suits and skills to put points into , the game is really missing it's core to have any balance based around it. All balance right now is point less when all 4 races don'e have tanks, Lavs, Drop suits because it's not future proof. Just put in placeholders.
My point is they plan to remove the burst AR when the minmatar gun goes in the game, so why not just make an minmatar skill right now that lets you use the burst AR? That way the weapon can be balance with it's on skills and upgrades, and when the art is finished all you have to do is swap the model.
Without the core whats the point of all this balance? It hasn't really changed anything it's wasted time and effort. I mean even if the new tank balance works, Once two more tanks and tank weapons are introduced what happens to all that balance? |

Seems to me that CCP has recognised that the game has become unbalanced and various roles aren't actually fulfilling their role and desired effectiveness as intended from the changes they made throughout the beta. Because they have recognised that there is a problem, they have started a development cycle in which they have set out to fix these "core" issues.
Once these core issues have been rectified, i assume regular content development will resume. Does that make sense? |

Yes it do makes sense, of courses. But how many people are working on dust right now, five? And what are they trying to balance here? a couple of weapons and a hand full of vehicles? What the hell will happen if they add new stuff, do they have to rebalanced all this **** again? Why now just trow the stuff they have in and look how people adopt it, how they use it and balance the overall, nut just little tiny peaces and balance everything again once it is released. How long does this balance **** have to continue? |

Since this game was launched, all we see and hear is balance here, balance there, and we are delaying the balance, here have a squad finder!
From what I understand, Dust seems to have a relatively small dev team when compared to big branded games. That translates directly into more time to do everything; patching, balancing, new content development - everything. You're also making an assumption that new weapons will lead to the rebalancing of everything. Not so. I don't see why new weapons couldnt be implemented in a balanced way from the get-go, and the balancing of that individual weapon can be adjusted to fit in with the rest of the game. This whole idea that one weapon will throw the entire game out of whack is a bit farfetched.
I don't pretend to know exactly what is involved in the rebalancing or even development process, but I can understand that with a small team making any changes, let alone the rebalancing that they've done on such a large scale takes more than a small amount of time. Personally I'd rather them take their time and get the balance right than continually **** it up in dribs and drabs |

Come on I tough we all had come to terms with CCP don't really knowing the fu** they're doing, but just look at history so far, the CCP history.. it's like Eve and that other game they have in development, so chill out a bit cuz reality is they might dont have a clue about but they are somewhat learning and have an agenda, and anyone in there is human until proven otherwise.
Their agenda is clear, just check the post from some devs, and it's clearer by the adjustments in game direction. (look at the first sentence of this post again)
They don't mind wasting time nor loosing players (look at those numbers.. passing fast &goingggg downnnnn); then the only real question as a consumer of their product is: how much time are you willing to spend in this game, how much are you willing to endure? (well.. 2 questions hehe) Cuz they surely donGÇÖt give a duck and are minding their own business.
In CCPGÇÖs words: GÇ¥HTFU or GTFOGÇ¥ Just keep the hopes high, the feedback ready, and suffer whit the rest of us.. I mean bear.
And if in the end Dust was only a big advertising campaign for Eve then so be it, I'm enjoying it.

Its a shame this game isn't more open, in eve when the game started falling behind, and the devs weren't moving along fast enough, a staggeringly large numbers of pilots took place in the Jita Riots, which made CCP commit more time and resources to eve!!
But its rather hard to do that from lobbies!! I mean we could get entire matches of people to crouch or something?

Then work on agency of the game and characters afterwards. It will help if CCP keeps us inform of what problems they having "exactly", it may help us to be more understanding.
Cept there are trolls that would take it and run with it and bash ccp back with it. I can see why the specifics of why 1.5 is what it is were not given out. |

The link is not working for me. Sorry on tablet is the fan fest presentation explaing the short term and long term plans for dust. (Yes I know, the guy got fired, but it doesn't change the fact that most of the goals in the near future section, have been achieved since moving to monthly updates)

You haven't seen goddamn ANYTHING yet. Wait until they FINALLY realise that tiered equipment in an FPS is completely the wrong design philosophy and and one of the prime reasons this game will never be accepted by the larger FPS market. Then (if they want to truly fix it) the titanic rebalancing involved in a massive tiericide will have these forums pissing napalm for another 12-24 months. |

The way I look about Dust is as we are invited for a free meal.
When you're invited; you stay out of the kitchen. You stay polite toward your host.
If the meal isn't up to your high standards, you politely decline and leave without a fuss.
If the host ask you how you find the meal; you give them honest feedback in a civil manner.
For those who are like:
"hey , I spent money on this!"
Yeah, it's like you bought wine to enjoy your meal. Good for you. It's a choice you made. |

About first 25 mins or so, yeah I know, but he points out the goals for the near future, and far future, across multiple sectors. Tick off all thd ones that have been done, there is quite a few, not all necessarily big, but they have been done. The few big ones have been left till last!! |

This is the order or operations/priorities i'd like to see, with a bulletpoint of rationale for each one.
- Primary Priorities
- Core Shooter Mechanics. Poor mechanics drive fps players away from DUST very quickly. Better now but more to do.
- New Player Experience. DUST needs a quality hands-on tutorial. What kills noobs most is lack of knowledge, not sp or tiers.
- Secondary Priorities
- Corp and Squad tools. CCP can write content or let players write content. Corp/squad tools allow the latter and are central to the gameplay.
- Voice Comms with HUD integration. Full hierarchical voice comms supported by seamless HUD integration. Also core to the gameplay.
- Vehicle/weapon lineup & balance. Avoid doing this with a larger, newer playerbase - it would be respec hell and creates a bad impression.
- Tertiary Priorities
- Skirmish 1.0-style maps. Maps and modes must tell an engaging story - arbitrary-feeling generic fps gameplay will cripple DUST.
- Begin connecting EVE/DUST. information-only to start. Finalize BPOs/allow DUST market prices to float with EVE's market. Iterate on starmaps to show players dynamic real-time battle activity in both games in a visually jaw-dropping starmap. It succeeds if it fires our romantic imagination.
I do have one question for devs/GM/CPM-type peeps - this current development arc is meant to address core mechanics and the NPE, i believe. What is the expected lifetime of this arc? With the CPM charter and the new stakeholder status of the CPM we players need to know what topics to focus on in forum discussion if we are going to provide topical and timely input for the devs and CPM. |

I won't but in the end if DKS II is better than Dust and as good as DKS I will be gone for more than a year. The community with DKS is far better, and the game probably is too. |
