Tankers who think they should fight infantry all day and have an advantage are sick people.
There is a call in limit on tanks for maps... reduce the efficacy drastically on tanks... Make them cost slight over dropsuits... and let the tanks reign...
People who think tankers should be a privileged few... are just biased and blowing smoke up each others ass in 200 threads a month. |

I disagree.
I think tanks should be weakened and made a lot cheaper and expendable... That way its a staple of DUST 514. So they are maxed out called on every battlefield... there would be ton's of vehicle on vehicle battles... and if an infantry chooses to run AV it will be to support one of his tanker buddies to kill other tanks... and would be at a massive disadvantage in the infantry vs infantry engagements.
the way it is right now is Completely broken and no way to balance or fix it.
You cant make tankers some elitist privileged group...It's game breaking. Relevant tanks should be accessible to all player groups... Then that player makes the decision if he wants to practice as a full time tanker or move on to the many other choices in DUST.... |

Tanks are used primarily as infantry killers in everything BUT PC..... if you want to go up against a bunch of infantry all packing some AV... your gonna die... any 1 vs 3-5 situation usually doesn't yield well for a person without a lot of luck being present why a tank should be different?.
That's the problem... tanks should be fighting tanks as you said... And with its current strength either the tank is owning or they are about to explode.... because either its the tank vs 1-2 at a time or its vs 4-10+more at a time...
If tanks are playing to fight other tanks gameplay changes... the way they even fit the tanks and choose their squad's change... The entire gameplay around tanks are changed....
They are to powerful to be running full strength and numbers on maps.... they would squash everything like a joke if there was enough tankers running that way every match...
They need a complete overhaul in the way they even work in this game... And that start's from reducing the efficacy drastically so we can field more... then of course cost reductions so players will actually field them..
Running no loss's shouldn't be the only way a tanker goes isk positive in a match... and creates a MASSIVE balance problem from the word go. |

every tanker I know didn't skill into tanks to kill infantry, we all did it to kill other tanks.
I might suggest world of tanks? its very tank focused and extremely accurate... But this is DUST... and we all know how fast tanker battles end...
These tankers didn't first start pulling it out with comfort until there was no decent enemy tanks on the field. As the learning curve of tanks are expensive..
People cut their teeth with tanks killing infantry... the entire basis around tank's in PUB's with the current game dynamic's do not promote tank fights.... and if it did... we would see spider tank squads moving around....
The way tanks are now is game breaking and damaging the entire concept of tanks, buffing them is only causing more issues for when advanced and proto tanks and *crosses fingers* other race tanks come out.
This problem will get worse and worse as they leave it too.

This problem will get worse and worse as they leave it too. if you want an infantry only game, might I suggest call of duty? its 100% infantry and totally boring. but this is Dust 514. and we all know how stupid infantry is.
Nah an infantry only game would not be CoD.... and not even an accurate representation... Counter-strike would be better even... at least it was a military trainer for a while..
I got into this game because of vehicles and infantry and EVE pilots in space... and to kill them in a vehicle, out of one.. at a turret... with orbitals... with anything...
Cop out's like "All the tankers i know became a tanker to kill tanks" is hilarious... because you didn't want exactly that, you wanted to have an advantage over everything that is in DUST... even specialized weaponry made for you.
Tanks are massively more vulnerable to infantry then this game represent's... lets not even think about an aerial vehicle with missiles?
the reality of tanks and the official video portrayal's of LAV's blowing them up is vastly different. which makes vehicle combat a stagnate king of the hill atrocity.
