When uprising came out this game had an uptick in marketing, nothing drastic, just PSN and banners around the web. So will the next build, not 1.5 or 1.6, but whatever comes after Uprising, do you think there is a chance this game can try again? For all intents and purposes this game is where it should have been 4 months ago. If the initial release attention could have been capitalized on this game IMO would be in a far better state playercount wise. So seeing as how the next build will likely be this winter, what does everyone think is the #1 thing that needs to be in it to keep this game alive?

Please keep responses reasonable. I know the forums isn't the place to find a lot of mature responses but I want to open up a serious discusion.

Dust can "try again" as often as CCP feel it is justified, which I believe will actually be a long time,

One thing I feel is often overlooked by the community is that CCP don't view Dust as a stand-alone game; it is simply one of a number of ways to experience the New Eden universe.

I did as well, but the lack of meaningful EVE interaction takes that feeling away from me.

 Nope.

1.5 will not contain the new weapons or vehicles as previously mentioned by CCP - they've been pushed back.

As of now, 1.5 sounds like the "noob friendly" update where things that veterans don't really need such as squad finder and tutorials will be added to the game.

I think, at a minimum, they should get all the racial dropsuits and vehicles out before any marketing push. No matter what they call it, it's still going to seem like a beta until then.

It doesn't help that the only fun way to do so (Subjectively and Variably) is to play EVE.

While I agree with you, I'm not sure interaction between the games is necessary for CCP's vision. I'm sure the vision includes deep interaction between all the elements, and the more the better in my view, but the most important thing for the New Eden vision is to have lots of channels into it: Eve, Dust, EVR, books, TV miniseries, etc.
