jesus christ can we stop with this negative CPM garbage already? its tiring and just adds to the pile of negativity in these forums, which is way to big anyway. the CPM0 isnt going to change until the election apparatus is in place, and thats being set up, its one of the CPM0's core duties, their founding reason, CCP won't just let them ignore it. as for their activity, they do need to work on being more visible, it undermines threads like these, and yes some of them will go through periods of inactivity, RL always comes first, no exceptions, anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.
and about the people on the CPM, hell i trust them way more than some of the other forum personalities around, they seem to be decidedly neutral to specific roles, which is good, the moment we get elections you can bet that we're going to start seeing things like a tankers canidate who's going to push CCP relentlessly on issues relating to tanks. the thought of some of the people on these forums actually getting a direct line to CCP and the ability to give feedback on planned features horrifies me, imagine char or regynum with that power. i'm really wary of an elected CPM, and i'll do my best to stay away from it, i can just see it turning into a clusterfuck that will turn this forum into an even bigger mire and that will do serious harm to dust. |

One thread every couple of weeks asking for change it too much? I respect you, and have for a long time, but if the voters are not happy with representation, then new representation is needed. If their job is to put the elections in place, then that is what they need to do. There is a lot of negativity, yes, but there is also a lot of positivity on these forums - none directed at the CPM we currently have that I have seen. Point me to a thread that says that they are doing a good job - I'd love to see it. Also - the CPM's personal lives definately come first. That said, they should also communicate with the community when they are going to be away. They took an added responsibility over that of normal players to be the face of the community. If they are going to be gone for a while - tell us. If you are no longer able to fulfill the responsibility that you VOLUNTEERED TO TAKE, then step down. Siimple. the thing is, i've rarely seen actual grievances in those threads, most of the time it consists of the OP angrily posting how he feels like the cpm isn't doing enough to help his role, or how the CPM should be more pro-tanks or pro-assaults etc and then we see the same old names leaping in to rag on the CPM members, im tired of these threads because theyre basically a template right now
insert small grievance here
add in CPM post trying to explain how the CPM works and how they're trying to provide community feedback to CCP
add in forum warriors leaping in on CPM post and mocking it for no reason other than bitteness.
and maybe some of the grievances against the CPM could be laid to rest if people actually went into the council chamber, heinz's has the weekly update thread which is definitely worth a browse every week, and you can toss a question at the CPM, like i did with my thread on tiercide in there, IWS provided some good feedback on the individual CPM's positions on it.
and agian some members of the CPM like heinz and jenza did provide notification of holidays, moves etc, that said jenza really does need to make an appearence, she needs to be seen to be back.
as for positive CPM threads, i remember a couple of positive posts but i draw a complete blank on threads :/, end of the day its still early days yet, while its all well and good for several voters to make lots of noise about removing the current CPM and replacing them its not helpful on the how side of things, the elections will come when they come, we really don't want to rush this process. |

Tellyou what - I'll be open to considering each of the current CPM for election when it comes, but they've got to show me something. IWS using passive aggressive replies to suggestions and his not so subtle way to redirect threads to make himself look better isn't going to cut it though. Kane's rare attempts at showing he now cares about the community in a 180 degree about face is going to have to be legit and consistent. He needs to show he cares here on the forums and in the threads. Nova, Jenza, Hans, Laurent - they must appear on the forums as well. They cannot be absent; even if all they do is to post something funny to show that they CARE about the community, then that is enough. If they want my support, it's got to be earned because so far I've seen nothing that does the trick. I'll lay aside what I've seen up until now, and will see what happens from here. If there is no change in behavior by our "representatives", then I see no reason to support them. that's fair enough, but as i've said if you want to see people like hans and laurent on the forums the best place to check and post in is the council chamber, not everything has to go in GD. |

You're right it doesn't - but you know what? If they want to be part of the community then they still need to post here too. Their job is to be a bridge between the community and CCP, and not just a group that reports on things that they can tell us that don't violate their NDA. They are meant to be leaders of the community as well - and this is where they fail. Posting in the Counsel Chamber is nice in terms of helping the game, but to be a leader of the community, you have to be part of the community and not apart from it. Squading up from channels that not everyone joins is great for those in those channels. That said, they are not the entire community, and there are a lot more players (like myself) who don't join those channels because we don't enjoy talking to people high on drugs or alcohol. Post here. Joke here. Telling me what your NDA allows you to share doesn't show you are part of the community. What does say that you are part of the community is actually being part of the community. The closest we have to this is IWS. well said, the CPM is in no way perfect, but we can trust them to do a decent job of it. being more visible would help improve the communities perception of them, they're in the same boat as CCP in that regard. |
