When the americas servers are bugging out... or when I just feel like not stressing... I like to go play on the Oceana server. Things are very... different there. there are a few differences, but the one I want to focus on, is the low player count. Which leads to an odd phenomenon.
People can sometime be very.. polite there. (except when there are "Southern Legion" SOB's playing) Sometimes, you find yourself on a 4x4 match... with a 4 or 5 objective map. (and a player or two on each side AFKing). Which means... if you are polite, and they are polite... you can basically just rotate through capturing objectives, and farm a whole lotta SP, without actually killing anyone :)
but occasionally, there are... issues. To avoid such things, I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is existing ettiquette in Oceana for that scenario. Are people "supposed" to go through them clockwise? counter clockwise? A-B-C-D order?
************************
Funny story from yesterday. I was doing the polite rotation thing, in a fast scout. Decent amount of damping. I came running out of an underground objective, just as an "enemy" came running in. He had parked his LAV a bit back from the actual entrance, which was a bit odd. I had just finished hacking the objective and got credit for it. I had gotten out, a few seconds before his approach, and we were probably 20m apart, running in opposite directions. He didnt even try to fire at me. He just ran for the objective.
I'm not sure if he just didnt see me because he was looking more at radar(which I wouldnt show up on)... or if he deliberately parked away to not spook me.. or whether he was delibereately trying to be "polite". Either way, I didnt try to shoot back at him either ... but... ...
I couldnt help myself.
I hacked his LAV and ran away with it I think it was a free BPO one; it was red. But either way, things degenerated a bit after that point |

If you join a match with a bunch of D-Uni players, please don't shoot them. Most of the time it's people giving a lesson on various aspects of the game (such as flying dropships or simply squad tactics).
It gets kinda hard for us to teach new players when the old players just join up and wreck the new guys.
Dust doesn't need a lower player count.

Funny, there was yesterday.
I think it's "special". It may have non-standard downtimes or something.

First off, if you come on to the Oceanic server during Aus/NZ prime time do not expect it to be an empty server and an AFKing paradise. You will most likely come up against strong squads from Science for Death, The Tickle Monsters and ourselves, also Nyain San are known to roam once in awhile.
Secondly, I will never go easy on anyone in a pub match. Oceania isn't High Sec.
Personally, I think the best way to teach new players is to only have a maximum of one or two in a squad of experienced guys and not an actual 'class' squad. I'm sure you know this in D-Uni and I'd be happy to liaise any of your directors if you have any students that want a placement.
I would encourage any D-Uni members (or anyone) to squad up with TSOLE guys if they see a spare spot in one of our squads. Just introduce yourself and ask any questions, we're a friendly bunch.

I'm just joking around here, but in all seriousness, we all went through that and have stuck around. Getting mowed down by black suits and weapons with cool names for months, just made me value getting those things for myself all the more.
And what better way to appeal to newberries than teaching them that teamwork with militia gear will tear down even the most hardened protobears? |

Agreed, but I'm in NA, so when I take a "class" out on a field trip, it's just basic vehicle stuff and we rarely get a game with any opposition worth worrying about....but it has happened and it is costly. I've taken to the habit of mailing people on the other team as a heads up that it will be a bunch of noobs in the match |
