All weapons allowed, but remember the Rail tank has to get out of the range of the blaster tank, which is harder said than done as we'll start at a 50 m range and a there are ways to deal with the Blaster's shorter ranges (Speed)

I'd be more in favor of team sign ups.
So we have teams of 6 tankers face off until the winning team is crowned.
Then the winning team faces off against eachother 3 v 3.
Then we have the championship rounds 1 v 1. Tank A vs tank B, B v C, C v A.
Then from the 3 championship battles, whoever had the best KDR averaged out across those 3 gets the title: Best Tank Killer In New Eden.




I will call this the Honey Badger Tournament.... or we could just call the top 6-man team the best tankers if people prefer that.....it'd also be a lot easier to do, logistically....in fact, I like that idea more but if people like my first idea we can do that.

Would 2v2s be accepted?

Preferably, we could get 4 teams of 6, but as long as it's an even number of teams, it should be a general tournament layout like the one you had earlier.

No because it goes against finding THE best tanker in the semifinals and championship 1 v 1 rounds. Naturally, similarly skilled tankers will end up in the same team, so when one team is crowned winner, the top 6 will likely already be there to compete with eachother.

Fairness =/= handicap.

I want the best team possible so when we go for the championship rounds, we have the opportunity to get the best fights against the most vicious tankers.

The reason drafting people into teams would be hard is because and getting everyone into a chat at once is impossible.

If its blaster V blaster then I'm in Char. The only problem is that the weekend after 1.5 drops I might be out of town. Also, 1.5 got delayed in case you guys didn't know.

I know I can, but I disagree on principle with not having an equitable distribution of top tankers amongst the teams.

I would have much preferred a 1 v 1 tourney where we could actually break down each others skills instead of allowing certain people to ride on others coattails.

There is a reason why Charlotte suggested a six man team. Not because it is a parallel to real tank tactics, because it isn't, but because that number permits him to create a team like the one he picked that will optimize his chances at making it out of the first round. He knows his own weaknesses in regards to up close tank fighting, so he wisely chooses others to do the heavy lifting in the hopes that he will be able to slide into a later round without risking his own self imposed title.

I cannot support such things. If you want to do teams, they should either be pairs or teams of four, to mimic common armor disposition in the real world. This would open up the tourney for more teams, and create more competition.

Perhaps a modified version of skirmish would be proper.

Each team gets six tanks and two dismounts.
The dismounts must wear a militia heavy suit (unmodded) with a scrambler pistol.

And heres me thinking this was supposed to be a tank tournament.

A tank tournament to find out who is top, but by putting some of the top players all in the same group is going to prove nothing.

It should be 1v1 or at most 2v2 with winners going on to the next stage and losers fighting eachother. Stop over complicating things and start fighting.

I'm just brainstorming BC we have a while to plan this. We don't even have enough players, yet.

Another possibility is to have 4 competitions:
Best shield rail
Best shield blaster
Best shield missile
Best armor rail
Best armor blaster
Best armor missile
Best armor tanker (any turret)
Best shield tanker (any turret)
Best all around (any build)
Best tank team (must field 2 rail, 2 blaster, 2 missile---best average KDR combined through team wins)


The reason doing this tourney now is a bad idea is that the disparity between armor and shields in 1 v 1 duels puts shield tankers at a disadvantage. If we so it now, armor tankers have a better chance of winning and that is not fair.

Charlotte doesn't want to run into Bob in an early round, or have to rail snipe versus Void, etc.

After more thought, I am leaning towards pairs being the biggest unit, and only if we can't come up with a workable way to do solo matches.

Bob and I are the best generalist tankers there are and I'm confident in that. We win by fighting our enemies with the weapons we don't have. Bob and I have tied every time we duel- every time since chrome. Our styles are almost exactly the same and that's why he's my favorite person to fight (no good counter to him)

I'm still on the fence about how to do the teams though. Not sure if everyone should get the chance to be on a team with one cup, or multiple cups. Perhaps an all-star cup with a 40 million buy in and a secondary cup with no buy in to desperate the new tankers from the vets.

Or if only people who win the specific tank build duels should get to compete.
